Greenwood finishes season with second win

The Greenwood 8-man football team broke open a close game at Alma Center Lincoln on Oct. 14 with three fourth-quarter touchdowns and went on to a 38-24 victory to conclude its campaign with a 2-6 overall record.

The Indians trailed Lincoln 18-16 after three quarters but went to work offensively in the final 12 minutes. It started with Ryver Glynn’s 24-yard touchdown strike to Rogan Travis on the first play of the quarter, and Glynn connected with Gage Ludovic on a 2-point conversion pass for a 24-18 lead.

With 6:20 left to play, Glynn found the end zone on a 7-yard run. The conversion play failed, but Greenwood led 30-18.

Greenwood put the win in its pocket on a 4-yard Glynn run with 2:24 left on the clock, and a 2-point conversion pass to Caden Arteman made it a 38-20 lead. Lincoln added a 53-yard touchdown run with 1:34 left, but it was too little, too late.

Greenwood had a productive night on offense with 441 total yeards.

The Indians rushed 57 times for 343 yards. Christian Thomas torched the Lincoln defense for 175 yards on 25 attempts. Glynn ran 23 times for 92 yards and a score. He also completed four of seven passes for 48 yards and two touchdowns. Travis rotated in at quarterback and completed four of nine throws for 36 yards and a touchdown.

Ludovic had three catches for 27 yards and Hayden Rakovec caught a 26-yard touchdown pass from Travis The Lincoln offense gained 332 total yards. Alma Center ran 21 times for 66 yards. Quarterback Jace Paul went to the passing game 35 times, with 17 completions for 266 yards and two scores. Ben Ross caught five of the passes for 137 yards and Jay Stetzer had seven receptions for 97 yards.

Greenwood finished its season at 2-6, with wins over Lincoln and New Auburn.
