As the season goes on, the Cornell-Lake Holcombe cross country runners are improving with each meet, as the young athletes gain experience.
Sept. 15 Chetek-Weyerhaeuser Invitational
For the Knights, freshman Alex Dixon came in 36th for the boys, in a time of 23:20, while freshman Emma Wright was 40th (29:08).
Sept. 20 Cadott Invitational
The team then headed to Cadott, for a humid run on a wet course. In a large field of athletes, Dixon finished in 96th (23:51.6) and Wright ended in 73rd (29:41.5).
“It was real hot,” said coach Greg “Cookie” Anderson. “That was a struggle.”
Sept. 24 Flambeau Invitational
After a major cool down, the Knights headed to nearby Flambeau over the weekend, where Dixon was the sole varsity competitor, coming in 27th (21:52.8).
“He had his best time,” said Anderson.
