In a high-energy match that filled the stands Sept. 13, the Lake Holcombe Chieftains Volleyball program hosted the Cornell Chiefs.
Cornell took the first set, 25-17 and came up with the second set, 25-18. Lake Holcombe refused to bow down and made the third set even closer, but Cornell wouldn’t give up and claimed a 25-19 victory in the set, and a 3-0 win on the night.
“The Lake Holcombe match tested our block coverage, with Emma Lechleitner’s ability to move across the net, and get a block or touch on many of our attacks,” said Cornell coach Amy Lorenzen. “We were able to find open spaces on their side of the court, by using tips and other shots. I was really impressed with our passing, which gave us the ability to run different offensive options.”
