Then hopefully spend a little money for improvements. And also not asking the bank for money all the time, by working with what the farm has and can sustain. I also realize what worked in the past may not now and vise versa, old ideas may be used with greater success. You have to keep history in mind as not to repeat past mistakes. The school needs to operate within their moneys and staff and be able to teach the kids how to work towards and realize their own goals in life because the world is not going to hand it to them.

I graduated from Rib Lake High School in 2002. I have an Associate’s degree in Forensic Science and a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care Administration Long Term Care. I am employed at Aspirus Country Gardens Assisted Living where I can utilize my patience, organizational skills, and level headedness everyday to provide care to the elderly.

I am currently on the Rib Lake School Board, an active member of the Rib Lake Athletic Booster Club, and a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. I am married and we have two boys that attend Rib Lake Middle School.

Why do you want to serve on school board?

I want to continue to be on the school board as I care about the school and the community. I have been on the school board 6 years and thoroughly enjoy it. I am passionate about the education and skills that make our students successful in life with what path they choose to take to reach their goals.

What do you feel is the biggest challenge facing the school district and what will you do as a board member to overcome that challenge?

I feel the biggest challenge will be budget, expenses continue to grow with inflation and general cost of living increases. Maintenance on the buildings and technology upgrades will always be there as these items become outdated. I believe having a long term plan, along with short term goals within the long term plan will help accomplish goals without straining the budget. Also, utilizing all the grants that are out there for schools to help accomplish tasks; such as technology needs, helps tremendously.

What can the school district do within budgetary limitations to attract and retain quality educators and staff? How do you feel the school district can be more responsive to the needs of the community?

I believe providing an enriching work environment through growth opportunities, collaboration with fellow teachers, and supporting the educators can help attract and retain great teachers. Communication is the key to having a successful relationship with the community. Keeping them aware of what is happening at the school and listening when the community has input to share or suggest allows for a great connection between the district and the community.

Medford School Board candidate profiles will run in the March 3 issue of The Star News.
