Albert Leo Oelrich was born on July 15, 1928, on the farm homesteaded by his family, the son of Frederick H. and Emma A. (nee Kaulfuerst) Oelrich. He was raised on the family farm and received his education in Spencer. After school, Albert worked on the farm and at Weyerhauser in Marshfield. He was united in marriage to Frances Jean Hlavac at Christ the King Catholic Church on May 21, 1960. They bought her family farm, Sunnybrook Farm, from her brother, Joe, in 1964. Besides farming, Albert also raised mink and rebuilt car and tractor engines in his spare time. He and Frances farmed with their son, Dan, until retiring in 2013, at which time Dan took over farming. He continued living on the farm until moving to Colonial Center in 2021. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church where he was an usher for many years, and was a foster parent for several children. Albert had many interests, but especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved hunting deer, fox and racoon, fishing, being a beekeeper and making honey for many years, making maple syrup, gardening, cutting and selling Christmas trees, trapshooting and throwing horseshoes.

He will be dearly missed by his sons: Dan Oelrich of Spencer and John Oelrich of Martin, Tenn.; his grandchildren: Owen and Lucy Oelrich of Martin, Tenn.; one brother: Arthur (Georgia) Oelrich of Unity; two sisters: Alice Johnson of Chili, and Frieda Oelrich of Spencer; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances, on Nov. 10, 2020; five brothers: Willard, Herb, Raymond, Roy and Joseph Oelrich; and three sisters: Esther Schoolman, Beatrice Macheichok, and Edna Oelrich.
