Michael T. “Mike” Fosterling, 60, of Medford, died peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022.

A funeral service will be held at 5 p.m., Friday, Jan. 7, at Hemer-Pickerign Funeral Home, Medford, with the Rev. Paul Woods presiding.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of the service at 5 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.

Following the service, please join the family for a meal and a toast to Mike at BS Bar, W4782 State Hwy. 64, Medford.

Mike was born July 29, 1961, in Antigo to Donald and Lucy (Duvall) Fosterling. He graduated from Abbotsford High School, class of 1979. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard while earning his degree in mechanics from Northcentral Tech College. He worked as a mechanic and sanitation engineer for many years. He then worked at the Colby Cheese Factory and was most currently working maintenance at Bach Farms, retiring due to ill health.

In 1989, he married Laura Winslow. They later divorced but he remained very close with Laura and her children.

Mike loved being outdoors. He was happiest when he was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, fishing or hunting. He and his hunting buddies owned “Short Prong Lodge” which was the name of their hunting shack. Survivors include his sister, Tenna (Darrel) Firnstahl; sister-in-law, Evie Fosterling; former wife, Laura Winslow; stepchildren: William “Billy” Berger, Jennifer (Jay) Jochimsen and Ethan McDermond; step-grandchildren: Destiny and Hunter Jochimsen; nieces and nephews: Sara Hince (Kyle Thompson), Tonja Firnstahl (Dustin Soderman), Kyle Firnstahl, Tyler (Amanda) Firnstahl, Brittney (Patrick) Radlinger, Keisha (Billy) Adams, Megan (Dayne) Shemick, Chelsey Fosterling (friend, Brandon Baures) and Robin Fosterling (friend, Matt Zimmerman).

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Robert, Kenneth and Dennis Fosterling.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be designated at a later date.
