Norbert Kleinschmidt

Norbert W. Kleinschmidt, 90, Chili, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022, in the care of his family. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, May 11, at Christ The King Catholic Church in Spencer. Burial took place at St. Stephens Catholic Cemetery in Chili.

Norbert was born on Aug. 29, 1931, the son of Edward and Ida (nee Fenske) Kleinschmidt. On April 25, 1951, Norbert was united in marriage to Dorothy Schultz at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Bakerville. Together they farmed on the Kleinschmidt family farm. He also worked at Path Finder in Spencer, as well as heavy equipment work for Roger Haske. Norbert was a lifetime member of the Southern Clark County Conservation Club. He was also a member of Christ The King Catholic Parish. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and hatching his own chickens.

Norbert is lovingly survived by his children: Scott Kleinschmidt and Sara (Thomas) Fern; a brother: Roy Kleinschmidt; his grandchildren: Monica (Tom) Paul and Amy (Justin) Gorst; and his great-grandchildren: Autumn and Eric Gorst, and Joshua and Hailey Paul. He will truly be missed.

Norbert was preceded in death by his parents: Edward and Ida; his wife, Dorothy; his siblings: Guy (Bea) Kleinschmidt, Silas (Evelyn) Kleinschmidt, Idora (Herb) Fenske, and Glen (Lilas) Kleinschmidt; and a sister-in-law: Lucille Kleinschmidt.
