51.34 seconds, Kleparski in the high jump with a height of five feet even, Richard Streveler in triple jump with a distance of 34 feet, four inches and Jeske in the discus with a distance of 40 feet, ten inches.
Third place finishers included Max Adams in the 1600-meter run in 5:29.29 and in triple jump with 33 feet, two and a half inches, Josiah Bridger in long jump with a distance of 16 feet, half an inch, Hopperdietzel in pole vault with a height of eight feet, six inches, and Grant Oelrich in shot put with a distance of 37 feet, four inches.
Three Lakes Invite
The Hornets started this week with another long trek, this time heading to Three Lakes on Tuesday evening. In a field consisting of nine girls’ teams and ten boys’ teams, the Hornets found success once more, with the Colby girls taking their fifth first place finish of the season and the boys tying for third. The girls’ team finished with a total of 153.60 points, beating out a distant Tomahawk, which scored 108.50, and Antigo, which finished with 97 points. The boys’ team’s 72 points put them in a tie with host Three Lakes, behind first place Rhinelander, which amassed 177 points, and second place Northland Pines, which finished with 157 points.
Leading the way for the girls’ team with first place finishes were Severson in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.95 seconds and the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 49.85 seconds, the 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Oehmichen, Willner, Severson and Daisy Feiten finishing in 4:23.13, the 4x800 relay of Herrmann, Schraufnagel, Sarkkinen and Casey Reynolds finishing in 11:26.74, Podevels in the high jump with a height of four feet, ten inches, and Oehmichen in the pole vault with a height of nine feet.
Finishing second for the girls were Oehmichen in the 800-meter run in 2:34.23, Daisy Feiten in the 1600-meter run in 4:234.13, Herrmann in the 3200-meter run in 13:03.76, Willner in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.63 seconds, and the 4x100-meter relay of Podevels, Willner, Underwood and Jazmyn Heeg with a time of 54.32 seconds.
Daisy Feiten also placed third in the pole vault with a height of eight feet, as did the 4x200 relay of Mateer, Decker, Dakota Hoeper and Olivia Krause with a time of 2:06.81.
For the boys’ team, Healy finished with a win in one of his events Tuesday evening, taking the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.33 seconds.
Two boys also recorded second place finishes, with Hopperdietzel reaching a height of nine feet, six inches in the pole vault and Jeske recording the second furthest distance in the shot put with a toss of 42 feet, five inches.
Finally, Healy also finished third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.50 seconds and Jeske took third in the discus with a distance of 115 feet, ten inches.
With two more meets under their belts the Colby track and field team will set their sights on the Stratford meet on Thursday as they continue to work out final teams for the conference meet to be held in just under two weeks. They will also be playing host to seven schools on Tuesday, May 10 at Colby High School.
