Raiders softball sweeps Tigers
Team smacks four homers in two games

Marathon senior Kayla Radtke earned two 8-6 complete-game pitching wins against Stratord on Thursday on a chilly night at Marathon Veterans Park.
Red Raiders Delaney Lang, Lauren Karlin and Jada Prihoda each belted home runs against Tigers freshman starting pitcher Laney Pankratz in the first game. Kali Prihoda doubled.
Marathon won both games against Stratford by identical 8-6 final scores.
Freshman Kaylyn Schueller and senior Ally Zuleger hit home runs for the Tigers against Radtke in the first game. Senior Megan Wiese tripled and junior Tessa Berg doubled.
Ella Mader hit a home run for Marathon in the second game against Stratford. Zuleger also smacked a home run for the Tigers, but it wasn’t quite enough as she took the pitching loss. First baseman Delaney Dennee doubled for Stratford.
Edgar baseball
Senior Jordan Bunkelman pitched a complete-game no hitter in the Edgar baseball team’s 11-0 five-inning road win against Rib Lake on Monday.
Bunkelman struck out seven Redmen batters while not surrendering any hits, walks or runs in the victory.
The top of Edgar’s starting lineup did a lot of damage against Rib Lake. Senior leadoff batter Everet Brehm hit three for five withk two RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Freshman No. 2 batter Jase Apfelbeck went three for five with an RBI and three runs scored. No. 3 batter Bunkelman was three for three with a walk and a run scored and cleanup hitter Ashton Schuett was one for two with a pair of walks and RBIs.
At the end of Edgar’s batting lineup, Brady Stencil hit two for two with a walk and run scored and Brett Baumgartner was two for two with a pair of walks, an RBI and a run scored.
Edgar’s varsity baseball team defeated Stevens Point Pacelli, 8-5, on Friday at home.
Leyton Schuett was the winning pitcher for the Wildcats and Logan Gagas earned the save. Senior shortstop Brehm batted four for four with a walk, an RBI and three runs scored. Junior first baseman Keghan Hartwag hit two for three with a walk and two runs scored.
Athens baseball
The Athens varsity baseball team beat Phillips, 16-12, on the road Tuesday.
Senior Cooper Diedrich earned the pitching win and junior Kyler Ellenbecker gained the save. Athens senior Brooks Kraus batted two for three with an RBI and three runs scored, senior Kody Lepak was three for four with a walk, two RBIs and three runs scored and Kyler Ellenbecker was two for four with four RBIs and two runs scored.
Also, junior Connor Sheahan was two for four with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored and sophomore Hunter Haehlke was three for four with an RBI and a run scored.
Marathon baseball
The Marathon varsity baseball team defeated Wisconsin Rapids Assumption, 7-1, at home on Monday.
Senior Kyle Hollenbeck earned the pitching win. Sophomore Tyler Underwood batted three for four with a walk and two runs scored. Junior Hector Pintor led the team with two RBIs.
