Travel: to go to one place from another
Well folks, it’s still pretty cold out. I saw a meme the other day and it read Mother Nature wants to apologize for the continuing cold weather, Father Time was driving and didn’t want to stop for directions.
I had to chuckle at that. Now, let’s hope Father Time doesn’t go down another wrong turn so we may see some warmth and sunshine before fall; or winter for that matter.
Don’t we all get a little lost every now and again in life? Everything is going smooth, no major hick-ups, then something happens. It knocks you off balance and then maybe you made a wrong turn. You may not know right away so you keep traveling. Then you notice.
Now you have a decisions to make. How to get out of the funk. How to make your voyage. Which path should you choose to travel on. In that setting time travel would be perfect, or even better - I Dream of Jeanie style, or Samantha/ Bewitched style. Either the nod of your head or a twitch of the nose. I used to do that all the time as a kid, just for fun to see if it worked. Obviously, I didn’t work but I never gave up. So, maybe it has worked just not in the way I thought it would.
Many things happened in my life since last week that are testing my limits, boundaries, ethics and strength. I have a choice to let myself just react, or respond. Most would say your reaction is your response, but do you have control over your response in that moment? Or are you fueled my emotion. The travel time (or time travel) from reaction to action is very brief; however, the time it takes you to actually process and choose a response is longer. More methodical.
Choosing to respond instead of reacting is a very conscious thought for me right now since all of my ducks are scattered around. If you see any of mine send them back my way please. It takes time to train your mind to stop yourself from traveling down the reaction path. Your body reacts all the time, in miliseconds. So I should ask again, how do you make your voyage? Is it a conscious thought or just reaction?
“A traveller lost his way and reached in an unknown territory of winding lanes and endless roads. No local person was able to tell how to get out of there. On top of it, his car broke down. He asked for help from a mystic passing by.
The mystic gave him a piece of paper. The traveller angrily said, ‘Keep your preachings to yourself. Give me some practical solution. Tell me how to fix the car.’ The mystic serenly said, “You have been driving continuously for hours. Car will start when it cools down. Meanwhile, study the paper I gave you. It’s a map of who you are, where you are and how to go back home.” - Shunya
