Abby competes at Elite Meet
Like Colby, the Abbotsford Falcons girls track and field team was also in Menomonie on Saturday for the UWStout Elite Meet at Johnson Fieldhouse.
The Falcons saw several athletes notch personal bests, but points were hard to come by as the Falcons finished 25th with three points against a field full of D-1 and D-2 high school teams.
Sophomore Sydney Falteisek scored all of Abby’s three points as she finished sixth in the triple jump with a new indoor PR of 30-04.00.
Falteisek then placed tenth in the 55-meter hurdles with her time of 9.97 seconds. Unfortunately, she missed making the finals, as only the top eight athletes advanced in that event.
The 4x400-meter relay of Chloe Cihlar, Briseida Escalara, Sommer Brodhagen and Falteisek was 13th in 4:44.28. Falteisek was also 13th in the high jump after she cleared four feet, eight inches. Cihlar and Brodhagen took part in the 55-meter dash. Cihlar was 22nd in 8.05, and Brodhagen was 32nd in 8.22.
Brodhagen was 31st in the 200-meter dash in 30.18 seconds. Senior Bridgett Pogodzinski set a personal best in the 55-meter hurdles, taking 21st in 10.55.
The Falcons were well represented in the throwing events. Freshman Margo Pogodzinski was tenth overall with a new indoor PR throw of 31 feet. Senior Dana Bloch cracked the top 25, placing 25th with her throw of 26-10.75.
Junior Kelsey Rueden rounded things out for the Falcons, taking 35th in the high jump with a height of four feet.
The Falcons meet in Mondovi has been cancelled. The next track meet will be in Medford on Tuesday, April 19. Events will begin at 4:15 p.m.
