How does one introduce themselves when the true aspect of a person is their soul and that is infinite? I guess you start where you start. Most people start with their name, so here goes.

Hi! My name is Samantha Yocius, most people who know me call me Sami.

Whew, that is out of the way. What next? hmmmm..... I suppose I could tell you all, I am in my 30’s and that I am an implant in Abbotsford, meaning I am not originally from this area.

I have moved around a lot in my life, starting when I was just two months old, and have made many places my home. You learn when you do move around a lot that there are such vast cultural differences everywhere. Small towns, big cities and everything in between. It really shapes a person to learn to go with the flow and that all differences are beautiful. If we didn’t have differences our world would be quite boring really.

Ok, I need to get back on track... let’s see. I love animals. I have adopted one of the office cats, Demo, as my own, but just at the office. My coworkers tell me that he cries when he realizes I left my desk area for a moment or when I leave for the night. That pulls at my heartstrings. He is such a sweetie but if you know Demo, you definitely know he can be super sassy too.

At home I have two cats, Anastasia (17 yrs. old) and Peeka (5 yrs. old), and a dog, Koda (4 yrs. old). The two cats don’t get along very well and Koda has learned to be the referee between the two, so we have our very own Tom (Koda) and Jerry (Peeka) show live at home. It can be quite amusing at points and brings a sense of laughter into our house.

I have probably rattled on about my animals long enough and hope that you didn’t lose interest in me quite yet. I know that my flare isn’t quite like Ross’. It will be hard to fill the void that will ever be present with Ross gone from TP Printing and Tribune-Phonograph.

When I first started here, I knew of Ross from taking sports photos at the games and other such events. His charisma and outgoing sense of self was awesome to see. I was happy to be working with someone who had a bit of quirkiness that ran similarily with mine and who also had similar work ethics. We become fast friends and worked great together.

The last several months I worked closely with the editoral staff, Ross, in particular, to produce the Tribune-Phonograph for you all to read every week. It was a feat we always conquered each week and this is coming from someone who learned on the fly on what the editorial staff does. Ross made it fun and informative and I know that he could never be replaced. Our time with Ross will forever be cherished and I know that his future will be as bright as he is.

I am looking forward to sharing my interesting thoughts with you on a weekly basis and hope to ensure you with light-hearted entertainment, a splash of wonderment and positivity to your life. Maybe that will help alleviate the sadness we all feel. And to quote the movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off - “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while you could miss it.”
