1936-2022
Marion B. Griesbach, 86, of Medford, passed away peacefully Friday, Mar. 11, 2022 at Country Gardens Assisted Living while under the care of Hope
Hospice. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Apr. 9 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Medford with Rev. Nancy Amacher officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Saturday, Apr. 9, at the church.
Marion was born Jan. 16, 1936 in Perkinstown to Dora (Mathias) and August Griesbach. She graduated from Medford High School, then went on to earn a degree in education from UW-Stevens Point.
She began her teaching career in Ogema where she taught elementary school. When her children were born, she left her full time teaching position to raise her children and did substitute teaching for the Medford School District, then went back to full time teaching for an additional 17 years, until her retirement in 2001. In her retirement years she enjoyed lunch with friends, spending time with her grandchildren, and traveling with her sister and brother-in-law.
Marion was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Throughout the years, she served in many capacities including teaching Sunday school, serving on the church council, and visiting homebound members.
She enjoyed her cats, antiquing, and going to flea markets. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly.
She is survived by her son, Jonathan (Tina) Griesbach of Ringle; daughter, Jennifer (Dean) Reichel of Minocqua; grandchildren, Kyndra Reichel, Cody (Leah) Griesbach, and Kyle Griesbach; great-grandchildren, Romy, Robby, Kennedy and Blake; and her cat “Georgie.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Caroline Franck and Genevieve (Titi) Griesbach.
Memorials in Marion’s honor may go to Hope Hospice.
