Ramon “Ray” M. Klingbeil
1929-2022
Ramon “Ray” M. Klingbeil peacefully joined his forever loved ones in Heaven on Wednesday, Mar. 23, 2022. The funeral mass will take place on Monday, Apr. 11, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford at 11 a.m. with Fr. Patrick McConnell officiating. The grandchildren will be urn bearers. Burial of his cremated remains will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will take place Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at the church.
On June 28, 1952, Ray married his beautiful wife, Marguerite Hirsch at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford.
Ray was born on Mar. 14, 1929 in Milladore to Reinhart A. and Martha M. (Pavlik) Klingbeil. After starting his education in the Milladore grade school, his family moved to Medford in 1939 where he continued his education at Holy Rosary School and graduated from Medford Senior High School in 1946. He enlisted in the Navy after graduating from high school. After time in the service and discharge, he returned to Medford to work for his father at the Klingbeil Lumber Company. In 1952, he and his brother Reiny bought the lumber company from their father. In the 1960s, he was a member of the Medford Volunteer Fire Department. In the mid-1960s, he joined the Wisconsin Retail Lumbermen’s Association and became president of the Wisconsin and Upper Michigan Association and also Director of the National Lumber Association. He remained an advisor on the board. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed skiing, fishing, hunting, bowling, camping with family, and his old cars.
His family meant everything to him. He was so proud of his children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. Ray always knew what to say to get a smile out of anyone. He was a thoughtful, gentle, and friendly man loved and respected by all.
Ray is survived by his children, John “Jack” (Kathleen) Klingbeil, Thomas “Tom” (Marsha) Klingbeil, Karin Kay Casey, and Paul (Dawn) Klingbeil. Loving grandfather to Sarah (Josh) Adams, Jason (Sue) Klingbeil, Jesse (Courtney) Klingbeil, Joshua Klingbeil (Brooke Sperry), Jonathan Klingbeil, Garett (Becca) Klingbeil, Grant (Danielle) Klingbeil, Nathanial Casey, Christopher (Deanna) Casey; and loving great-grandfather to Max, Ali and Ray Adams, Conner, Cooper, Carter and Coby Klingbeil, Taylor and Hudson Klingbeil, Belanna “Lanna” Werner and Geordi Sperry, Jack and Ada Klingbeil, Emmitt and August Klingbeil, Oliver Strobl, and William and James Casey. Also his sister, Joyce M. Baker; in-laws Patrick J. Hirsch, Joan Hirsch, Bernice Hirsch; and many nieces; nephews; cousins; and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marguerite; parents, Reinhart and Martha Klingbeil; brother, Reinhart “Reiny” Jr.; and in-laws Audrey Klingbeil, Bill Baker, Leo (Lorraine) Hirsch, Marilyn (Ray) Strassman, Peter (Edna) Hirsch, Mark Hirsch, Eileen (Gerald) Handel and John “Jackie” Hirsch, and Geraldine “Jeri” Hirsch.
Memorial contributions may be given to Holy Rosary Parish and School.
