Erin Stueber and Kaitlyn Ulrich of Stratford graduated from UW-La Crosse at its 57th annual winter commencement on Dec. 19 at the La Crosse Center.

Stueber graduated with highest honors while earning a bachelor of science degree in biology. Ulrich earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology.

Nicole Leggon of Stratford has been awarded to the 2021 fall semester dean’s list at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.

To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must complete 12 or more letter-graded credits while attaining a 3.66 grade point average.

Leggon is a junior studying in the College of Food, Agriculture & Natural Resources Sciences.

Conference art

The Center for the Visual Arts has announced this year’s Marawood Conference Art Exhibit. This is an annual competitive exhibit that features artists from schools within the conference.

Stratford High School’s allconference winner is junior Ava Weix with two exhibits, “Derealization” and “The Cliff.”

This show will be on display until Saturday, March 26, at their location on the 400 Block in Wausau.

Soil health class

The Marathon County Public Library and Extension Marathon County will offer virtual classes on soil health and composting from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, with the class repeated again that evening from 6-7 p.m.

Both classes will be conducted via the Zoom app. Attendees can attend the session virtually via webcam or by phone.

The classes are free but registration is required. People wanting more information or to register for the clases should visit https://www. mcpl.us/events/10744.

Junior prom

Stratford High School’s Junior Prom will be held on Saturday, April 23, from 8 p.m. until midnight. The queen coronation is at 9 p.m.

Family story time

Parents and children can join the Marathon County Public Library (MCPL) for family story time online.

On Tuesday, April 5, online family story time will entail reading stories featuring shadows. Plus, families can learn about the Grab & Go kit available for children at all MCPL locations through Aprila nd come along on a virtual field trip of the newest exhibit at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum.

A new story time is posted every Tuesday at 10 a.m. on MCPL’s YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/MCPLWausau, but families can watch any time.

Online family story time is free. People can call the MCPL headquarters at 715-261-7220 for more information.

Bloodmobile

A bloodmobile will be held from 3:30-6:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every other month at the VFW clubhouse in Stratford.

The following Tuesday blood drives will take place at the VFW clubhouse in Stratford: April 26, June 28, Aug. 23 and Oct. 25. No appointments are needed for people to donate blood.

COVID dashboard

Stratford Public Schools reported zero positive cases of COVID-19 as of March 21, out of 933 staff and students.

One hundred fifty-nine Stratford staff and students have tested positive for COVID- 19 since Sept. 1, 2021.

Grab & Go craft

During the entire month of April, adults can pick up a free Grab & Go craft kit from any of the Marathon County Public Library (MCPL) locations.

The kit will contain supplies for making a spring-inspired thimble bouqet pendent.

Kits are free and available while supplies last. For more informaton, people can call the MCPL’s headquarters in Wausau at 715-261-7230.

Book Club

The public is welcome to join the Marathon County Public Library’s Stratford Branch and fellow readers for a wonderful book club discussion at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, on author Matt Haig’s acclaimed novel titled, “The Midnight Library.”
