_ March 13 - An officer was dispatched to the intesection of Hiline Avenue near West Spruce Street in Abbotsford for a vehicle in the ditch.

It appeared the vehicle was driving southbound on Hiline Avenue and instead of turning, continued to drive straight south and drove into a ditch.

The officer made contact with the driver of the vehicle and saw there was a passenger in the back passenger seat of the vehicle. The driver told the officer he was driving southbound on Hiline Ave.

The officer smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from the driver’s breath and his eyes were glassy and watery. The officer asked the driver what he had to drink tonight and the driver told him only two beers. The officer requested the driver to do a field sobriety test to ensure he could drive.

The officer ran his name through dispatch and the driver came back with no valid driver’s license.

The driver blew a .082, which is over the legal limit. The officer placed him under arrest and was given a citation for operating while under the influence, operating without a valid driver’s license and failure to keep control of vehicle.

_ March 13 - An officer was dispatched to an Abbotsford bar for an alarm.

The officers arrived on scene and made contact with the owner of the bar. Several individuals were yelling at the owner and two witnesses as the group were getting into their vehicles and left. One of the officers advised those individuals to leave as the bar was now closed.

The owner told the officer there was a fight tonight as the bartender was telling everyone inside of the bar it was time to leave. The owner stated he had heard a male individual call him a “fat ass” and that is when he told the group of ten to 15 individuals it was time to go and there was no need to call him that.

A witness told the officer they saw the group of individuals walk into the bar earlier in the night and the group saw other individuals eating a pizza so they requested to order a pizza. The bartender told the group the kitchen was closed for the night and then proceeded to announce last call.

The witness continued, stating several minutes later the bartender announced last call for the last time but the group wanted to order more alcohol and the bartender told them no as it was time to close the bar. She said this made the group mad and they asked to speak to the owner. One of the individuals called the owner a “fat ass” and asked him to come from behind the bar to fight.

A woman walked over to the group and asked them to leave. The group started to argue and push the woman around and that is when the owner stepped between her and the group. The witness stated one individual was standing directly behind the owner and placed his hands on the owner’s neck, causing it to redden and bruise.

The owner told the officers he was able to get the individual’s hands off from around his neck. The pushing continued to the front steps of the bar. The witness stated she saw the owner and woman fall on the ground trying to get the group out and when the woman fell she hit her head on the ground. The witness stated at this point the group then had left in their vehicles.

The officer asked the owner if he had cameras inside of the bar. The owner gave the offi cers the security footage.

_ March 12 - An officer was dispatched near the intersection of North 1st Street and East Spruce Street in Abbotsford for a two-vehicle crash.

The officer made contact with a driver who was standing outside near his vehicle. The driver explained he and his passengers were in his vehicle getting ready to drive southbound on North First Street, but before he could move his vehicle, another vehicle began to back up, striking his vehicle near his gas tank.

The driver stated there were three males that exited the vehicle. He asked the male driver if he could meet him at a nearby gas station to speak about fixing the damage to his vehicle and the male driver agreed.

The driver drove to the agreed location and then observed the vehicle that struck him drive away in the opposite direction. The driver believed the male driver who struck him was intoxicated. The officer asked if he had insurance on his vehicle. The driver stated he did not and just wanted money to fix the damage of his vehicle.

The officer took photographs of the damage and then patrolled the area for the other vehicle.

_ March 13 - An officer took a complaint of a stolen trailer from a business owner.

The officer followed the owner to his business where he showed the officer where the trailer was parked. The owner stated when he left the evening before he last noticed his trailer parked on the parking lot and the next day it was not there. The complainant told the officer the only other person who had permission to move the trailer was his brother. He showed the officer the correspondence between himself and his brother seeing that the brother did not take it and did not know who did.

The business owner said he called his closest neighbor to see if he had seen anything suspicious, and he had not.

The business owner described the trailer to the officer and stated it had a noticeable dent on the trailer’s driver side fender. The business owner also stated the value was $3,000 and again expressed no one had permission to take the trailer.

There were tire tracks leading from the spot where the trailer was parked. The tracks were only visible in two spots where there was still snow/ ice left and, due to warming temperature, the tread pattern was almost completely melted away and unrecognizable. The officer took pictures of the tire marks and close ups where the tread patterns were most visible.

The officer also noticed near the spot where the trailer had been parked was a single set of show prints which were in slightly better condition and the officer also took photographs of them.

_ March 12 - An individual dropped off a duffel bag at the police department and stated he had spoke to another officer at CAPD who had arranged for a pick up by another individual. The duffel bag will be released to said individual.

_ March 12 - An officer was notified by a caller in reference to a stray dog running through her property in Abbotsford. The caller told the officer the dog had no tags and she did not know who the dog belonged to.

The officer went to the residence and picked up the dog. The dog is described as a small, black, male terrier. The officer noted there was no collar or tags. The officer transferred the dog to the CAPD.

_ March 10 - An officer was advised by a fellow officer that a vehicle parked at an Abbotsford hotel was registered to an individual with a valid warrant for arrest. The officer drove to the hotel and observed the vehicle in the parking lot. The owner of the vehicle had a valid warrant for contempt of court, failure to pay, through the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department.

The officer requested Spencer Police Department to assist. The officers arrived on scene and made contact with a female individual who stated she was the owner of the vehicle.

The officer explained to the woman she had a warrant out for her arrest and a bond amount. The woman stated she could not pay her bond then but could the following day. The woman was confused as she stated she was never cited or arrested in Taylor County.

Clark County dispatch advised the officer the warrant was confirmed and was in route to make a warrant transfer. The officer placed the woman under arrest for the warrant and transferred her to Clark County Police Department.

_ March 7 - An officer met with a business owner at the police department in regards to an attempted theft from a coin box at an Abbotsford business.

The owner told the officer he saw on the security footage a male enter the business and attempt to gain access to the change machines. The owner stated he saw the male party use what appeared to be a socket wrench to try to open the coin box. When that didn’t seem to move it he witnessed the male exit the business and re-enter with a pry bar to attempt to remove the coin box from the bolts anchored into the walls. The male was in the business for about 40 minutes, but did not leave with any property and only damaged the bolts.

The owner provided the offi cer with the security footage. The male was described as wearing a green colored jacket, black hood, black face covering, grey pants and black shoes. He was also carrying a black colored back pack and wearing light colored gloves.

_ March 7 - An officer was dispatched to an Abbotsford residence in reference to a civil complaint. The officer was told a male wanted a female party evicted from the residence.

Upon arrival the officer made contact with the female party and was told a male and female kept yelling at her and telling her to leave. The officer inquired if the male party was home to speak with him. The female stated he was in the living room.

The officer met with the male and asked what had transpired. The male told the officer he would like the female to be evicted from the residence and how he could do that. The male stated the female just sits in the basement, does not help with any housework and keeps the basement a mess.

The officer explained he would need the landlord to evict her. The officer informed the male party he could not force her out of the residence since she has been living there for a while now. The male stated he would call the landlord the next day.

The officer went to speak with the female in the basement and explained to her the male would call the landlord to evict her. The female stated she understood. The officer asked the female if she had anywhere to stay the evening and she stated she did not and that she just gave all of her money for rent. The officer advised her to stay away from the other residents to avoid any more arguements.

The officer went back to speak with the male, who had called and spoke to the landlord. The landlord told the officer they wanted her out of the residence. The officer explained to the landlord that since she established residency they would need to contact the Clark County Courthouse to obtain eviction papers. The male told the officer he would wait for the landlord and ignore the female.

_ March 7 - While on patrol in Abbotsford an officer observed a vehicle that was parked in front of a residence and appeared to have two individuals sleeping in it. Several minutes later the officer observed the car exit the parking lot to the residence.

The officer observed a couple of air fresheners obstructing the driver’s view and conducted a traffic stop.

When the officer approached the vehicle he made contact with the driver and explained the reason for the traffic stop.

While the driver was speaking to the officer he noticed a strong smell of alcohol coming from the driver. The driver was also slurring his words and had glassy eyes.

The officer asked the driver who was the owner of the car. The driver stated he had just bought it from his friend and the registration was still under his friend’s name. The offi cer explained to the driver the vehicle is considered to be unregistered and registration plates no longer belong to the vehicle.

The officer asked the driver if he had been drinking any alcohol and he stated no. The driver said he was visiting his sister and he just got done with work and he fell asleep in his car because he was tired. The officer asked where the driver lived. The driver stated just down the street on the corner. The officer asked if he was so close to home why he fell asleep in his car. The driver stated he needed to get to work and it was ok.

The officer asked if the passenger had been drinking and he stated he had not. The offi cer observed a bag by the driver’s feet and asked what was inside of it. The male replied stating it was his lunch. The officer could still smell an odor of alcohol and asked the driver to step outside to conduct a field sobreity test. The officer placed the driver under arrest for operating while intoxicated.

The officer returned to the vehicle to explain what was happening to the passenger and asked him again if he had anything to drink. The passenger stated he had. The officer explained he could walk home.
