CRASH
Car in ditch
William Mathew Haavisto, 16, of Medford, was traveling northbound on Gibson Dr., on February 26, at 10:40 p.m., in the town of Little Black. Due to the icy road conditions, the vehicle spun and entered the eastern ditch. The exact details of the crash are unknown to the driver. The vehicle came to rest in the ditch, facing westbound, there was damage to the driver’s side and the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was removed from the ditch the following day.
Stacey J. Volk, 57, of Ingram, was traveling on Hwy 73, on February 24, at 4:19 p.m., in the town of Jump River. Volk failed to negotiate the curve on the snow covered road and entered the ditch. Volk struck several small trees/brush, coming to rest against a small tree. The vehicle was towed from the ditch and Volk was able to drive the vehicle home.
Car vs. trees
Jared Charles Metz, 37, of Medford was traveling westbound on CTH M, on February 27, in the town of Medford. The notified time of the crash was 9:30 a.m. Metz crossed the centerline and went into the south ditch. The vehicle went into the ditch and struck several small trees and sustained damage to the front end and along the driver’s side. The vehicle came to rest in the south ditch facing westbound. Metz was issued a citation for failure to keep vehicle under control.
Car vs. mailbox
Carolyn Rose Penk, 64, of Lublin, attempted to get her mail from her mailbox on Elm Rd., on February 28, at 1:26 p.m. Penk got too close to edge of the road and got stuck down and struck her own mailbox, scraping the side of her vehicle as she went into the ditch. Icy road conditions played a factor in the accident.
Car on curve
Tylor Andrew Zondlo, 26, of Rib Lake was traveling northeast bound on Lake Shore Dr., on March 1, at 7:02 p.m. He attempted to make the curve, but slid off the roadway and into the north ditch. Zondlo was issued citations for displaying unauthorized vehicle registration plate, deviation from designated lane, and failure of operator to notify police of accident.
Fell asleep at the wheel
Michael Kenneth Hostetler, 17, of Lublin was traveling northbound on Hwy 73, on March 3, at 6:34 p.m., in the town of Taft. Hostetler fell asleep and crossed into the southbound lane and entered the west ditch. Hostetler struck the driveway of N1001 Hwy 73 and became airborne, and came to rest upright in the west ditch facing north. He was issued a citation for inattentive driving.
Car vs. semi trailer
Dale Steven Mravik, 66, of Lublin, was heading northbound on Hwy 73 in a semi-trailer owned by Tim Zach Trucking, LLC, on February 22, at 2:53 p.m., in the town of Jump River. Mravik slowed to a stop near the drive way of N7778 Hwy 73 to prepare for a left turn into a driveway on the westside of the roadway. The driver stated that he checked the mirror and had not seen anyone behind them. As he prepared for the turn, the truck was rocked by an impact from the rear. Jason Lee Weir, 47, of Sheldon was traveling northbound and the weather was causing it to be difficult to see. Weir stated that he didn’t realize there was a vehicle in front of them until the last minute before impact. Both vehicles were removed from the impact site, prior to the officer’s arrival. Weir’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and Mravik’s trailer sustained damage causing the cargo to begin to run out.
Two car collisions
On March 3, at 11:18 a.m., in the city of Medford, a legally parked and unoccupied vehicle, owned by Kristy A. Mueller, 60, of Medford, was parked in the driveway. Bridget Jasmine Brandner, 20, of Medford was parked in a garage. Brandner was backing out of the garage and struck Mueller’s vehicle.
Anthony James Meyer, 31, of Medford was traveling northbound on Hwy 13, on February 24, at 1:01 p.m., in the city of Medford. Jonathan Marshall Leu, 22, of Stetsonville, was exiting a private driveway, entering Hwy 13. Leu stated that he looked but did not see prior to entering Hwy 13. Leu pulled out in front of Meyer resulting in a collision. Meyer’s vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Leu was issued a citation for failure to yield emerging from non highway access, and another citation for operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
Rosemarie Ann Dahl, 52, of Medford, was driving north on 7th St, on March 3, at 3:33 p.m., in the city of Medford. Hailey Lynn Zickert, 16, of Rib Lake, was driving west on E. Clark St. Zickert stopped at the stop sign on E. Clark St. at S. 7th St. Zickert saw Dahl driving towards the intersection but thought she could make it through the intersection in time. Zickert entered the intersection and collided with the right rear part of Dahl’s vehicle. Zickert was issued a citation for failure to yield right of way from stop sign.

eer The following car vs. deer accident occurred: Chad Ryan Kowalczyk, 42, of Lublin, on February 28, at 7:08 p.m., on CTH S, in the town of Taft.
REPORTS
