Farm Day is Big Success A larger crowd than ever attended the annual Farm Day, sponsored by Lamont’s Service, at the armory Saturday.
The program got under way at 1:30 and include cartoons, a movie on oil, from the crude stage through the refining process to canned oil and talks on Phillips 66 products by specialist in their respective fields.
Taking part in the program were Orin Mason, Les Lair and George Peters, of the Phillips Petroleum Co., of Minneapolis and Herb Gloege, who is district manager. There are door prizes and special drawings for the children. The farmer attending from the great distance came from five miles northwest of Medford. The oldest farmer attending was 81 years old, and resides near Curtiss.
Coffee and donuts complete the afternoon.
Card Party March 16 The Auxillary to the American Legion met at the home of Mrs. Peter Alexander, Wednesday night, and made plans for a card party to be held Sunday, March 16, at the armory club rooms. Sheephead and pinochle will be played and there will be prizes and lunch. Fifty cents will be charged, per person.
The organization also sent a check for $25 toward new rehabilitation equipment, recently purchased for veterans at Wood. The next meeting will be Wednesday April 2, at the home of Mrs. Fred Bobbe.

Highway 13 is closed Tuesday Fourteen separate accidents, one of which involved 14 cars, took place within four hours in Clark County Tuesday afternoon with the high winds and blowing snow making visibility zero. Two miles north of Abby one car became stalled causing a chain reaction of accidents which involved 13 cars behind it. Drifting snow forced the closing of Highway 13 Tuesday after noon and early evening. The Abbotsford and Colby Police Department estimate the accidents cause about $12,000 worth of damage to the cars. Twelve of the cars needed to be towed away.
Only one major injuries were reported with some of the travelers being transported to the Medford Hospital and Colby Clinic. Highway 13 was blocked until 7:30 Tuesday night. Schwitzgoebel to speak to Abby Senior Citizens The Abbotsford Senior Citizens will hold their next meeting in Green Vista Recreation Hall March 14 at 1:30 p.m.
The guest speaker will be Buz Schwitzgoebel, adminstrator of Colonial House Nursing Home of Colby. This will be a regular meeting, followed by games and prizes will be awarde at each table. His subject will be the Tele-Care program. Members are asked to bring a snack and coffee will be furnished by the club.
