Chieftains watch season end at hands of Raiders
By Ginna Young
Lake Holcombe knew it was going to be a hard match March 1, going into the first game of Regional basketball action. The Chieftains, as the No. 12 seed, hit the road the short distance to No. 5 seeded Bruce, a team they faced twice in the regular season, both times resulting in losses.
“The boys knew they couldn’t get in a run-and-gun game, so the plan was to slow things down,” said coach Joy Webster. “They did a great job the first half and went into the locker room trailing by a close margin of 32-21.”
With the second half, tired legs came into play and with that, more turnovers. The Chieftains fought until the end, but saw Bruce take the win, 78-38, putting Lake Holcombe’s season to an end.
