Ruth Vanderhoof
Ruth Vanderhoof, age 91, of Colby, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022, at the Marshfield Medical Center.
A funeral service was held 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 28, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. Rev. Donald Bruce presided. Interment followed at West Spencer Cemetery. Family and friends were welcomed from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Colby is entrusted with the arrangements.
Ruth was born on Jan. 16, 1931, the daughter of Walter and Agnes (Zoepping) Kohnhorst in Schofield. She attended Athens schools. Ruth was united in marriage to Charles Vanderhoof on Aug. 11, 1951, in Dorchester. He preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 2018. She worked at the Edgar Basket Company, Blum Brothers Box Company in Marshfield and seasonally at Figi’s in Marshfield. Together they farmed in the Spencer area for 25 years and then moved to Colby in 1977 working for the L.C. Christensen Company. She also did babysitting in her home.
Ruth enjoyed bowling and tending to her flower garden. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and volunteered at Bethesda Thrift Store in Wausau.
Ruth is survived by two sons: Larry of Colby and Roger (Tammy) of Spencer; seven grandchildren: James (Kelly) Vanderhoof, Jeff (Jane) Vanderhoof, Becky Vanderhoof, Shawna Vanderhoof, Roger Vanderhoof II, Deanna (Carl) Delis and Jason (Amanda) Vanderhoof; 11 great-grandchildren: Jada, Lexi, Noah, Keagan, Danica, Cora, Kobe, Carter, Hayden, Alexis and Trisha; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Mark; and four sisters: Leona Schulz, Helen Volkmar, Dorothy Suckow and Lucille Bruss.
