Aspirus Medford Foundation quarterly giving update

This past quarter, donor gifts allowed the Aspirus Medford Foundation to purchase the following items to enhance and strengthen the quality of care at Aspirus Medford Hospital & Clinics. Thank you, donors, for your generosity.

The portable Terason 3200T Plus Ultrasound System provides enriched detail and clarity when providing a safe and effective regional block, placing a central line, port-a-cath or midline catheter, or when overcoming a difficult IV start. It is an excellent tool for educating future Nurse Anesthetists.

Hypertension is a common medical disorder in pregnancy in the United States. For mothers with signs of maternal hypertension, Home Blood Pressure Cuffs will be provided upon discharge from the Aspirus Medford Birthing Center and/or Emergency Department. At home self-blood pressure monitoring will prompt early intervention and positive outcomes for an anticipated 18 mothers and 18 babies per year.

A Lymphedema Treatment Chair, dedicated to the treatment of individuals with the chronic diagnosis of lymphedema, was purchased. The use of this chair, paired with the non-invasive SOZO technology, will help Certified Lymphedema Therapists detect lymphedema early and intervene with proper treatment for best outcomes. Aspirus Therapy – Medford treats lymphedema patients within a 100-mile radius and will be able to accept additional patients across all stages of lymphedema.

The current ultrasound unit, purchased in 2016, needed hardware and software upgrades to match the quality standards of a unit recently purchased for Imaging Services. With the Ultrasound EPIQ7 Upgrade, the two systems are of comparable quality, can share probes and the life expectancy of the current unit has been extended by five (5) years.
