Abbotsford FFA dairy breakfast a huge success
One of the major activities of the Abbotsford FFA alumni during the year is hosting the annual Abbotsford Dairy Breakfast on the first Sunday of June.
This past year the 32nd annual breakfast was held at the Dave and Becky Ruesch family dairy farm, located a few miles northeast of Abbotsford.
The weather the day of the event turned out great, and over 1,300 persons attended the meal, and had a great breakfast consisting of pancakes, real maple syrup, sausage, a variety of cheese, chocolate and white milk, butter, cheese, juice, applesauce, cookies and ice cream.
The breakfast two years ago was cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic, but this year’s crowd matched, if not exceeded, the crowds from past years. The purpose of the breakfast is to show support for the dairy industry in Wisconsin, and also raise money for scholarships and other activities of the local FFA chapter.
Most communities in the area have a breakfast like this as the month is widely known as June Dairy Month. It takes a large number of workers to help with a breakfast of this size to plan and carry out the word the day of the event.
The 33rd annual Abbotsford Dairy Breakfast is being planned for Sunday, June 5, from 7 a.m. to noon at the Evan and Talor Ensign dairy farm, located northeast of Abbotsford near Milan.
Any persons interested in helping to plan or work at the breakfast can contact Becky Ruesch, FFA alumni president, for information.
