COLBY-ABBOTSFORD POLICE LOG

_ Feb. 7 - An Abbotsford woman spoke to an officer at the Colby/Abbotsford Police Department in regards to an argument that she had with her boyfriend.

She told the officer she had relocated to the area from another state and was living with him for the year that they have been together. The female stated that her boyfriend drinks alcohol a lot and is an alcoholic.

The female party stated that she had been looking through her boyfriend’s phone and saw several inappropriate, sexual correspondences between him and another woman. The female party stated this made her very mad and she told the boyfriend he had to leave and she did not want a relationship with him any longer.

The female and male parties started to argue and he forced the female party down on the ground with one hand while grabbing the back of her shirt. The officer was informed the male party then pulled the female party around the living room while still laying on the floor for several seconds. After that he then punched the front of her face and she appeared to lose her eyesight as things started to go black.

The female party stated the male party then went into the bedroom while she stayed in the living room for the rest of the night.

The officer went to the residence to confront the male party after he was done with his shift but no one was there. The officer then called the employer and spoke to a supervisor who stated the male party had left work 30 minutes prior. The officer informed the employer to contact him if the male party comes into work the following day.

_ Feb. 8 - An officer was dispatched to an Abbotsford residence in reference to a disturbance. The officer was also advised a male in the residence was trying to leave.

The officer arrived on scene and made contact with the male party outside the residence. A second officer made contact with the female party who was sitting in the bedroom of the residence with her young daughter.

The first officer asked the male party about what transpired there that night. The male party stated that he and his girlfriend, of two years and mother to their daughter, were arguing in the bedroom, with his daughter standing near the bed. The male party told the officer he had pushed his girlfriend down on the bed, holding her down with one arm to her chest and his other hand holding down her leg. The girlfriend had punched the male party in the face to get him off of her.

The first officer asked if he had choked her and the male said no. He then went on to tell the officer that he had come home from work earlier in the day and was depressed. He took a knife from the kitchen and brought it into the bathroom to cut himself several times on his wrist. He had confirmed to the officer that he had thought of committing suicide the day prior but couldn’t think of a place to do it.

The first officer then made contact with the girlfriend and was told that earlier in the day she had visited her mother and got into an argument with her boyfriend (male party) over wanting to leave. The male party did not like the other male that was at the mother's residence. The two then returned to their residence and continued to argue in their bedroom about her cheating on him. The girlfriend had told the male party to leave and that she wanted to end the relationship with him.

The girlfriend remained, telling the male party to leave. He did not and he pushed her down on the bed to obtain her cellphone. The male party did not get her cellphone and she told him to get off of her. The male party started to choke her with both hands and she told the officer she had bit him on his hand. Once she had fought off the male party, she grabbed her daughter who was screaming while standing at the end of the bed.

The officers arrested the male party on charges of domestic strangulation and disorderly conduct.

_ Feb. 10 - An officer was dispatched to an Abbotsford residence in reference to a disturbance.

Dispatched informed the offi cer a female was giving the report and had stated that her boyfriend had struck her and drug her around by her hair. She also told dispatch that her boyfriend had been drinking and had been using cocaine.

The officer arrived and met with the female and asked what had happened. The female started telling a story about a different male than her boyfriend and the officer asked about the discrepancy in names. The female had told the officer that her boyfriend goes by a different name because he is in trouble with the law. She gave the officer his real name.

The officer gained some insight on the couple's background and how long they have been together and in Abbotsford. She explained to the officer they frequently fought and argued.

The female explained that her boyfriend was to go into work for a second shift but he had called in and started drinking instead. She also saw him use cocaine then fall asleep. She told the officer that after the male party woke up, he thought she had taken his phone and began yelling at her. She told him she did not take his phone but he would not listen, slapped her three times and grabbed her hair with one hand and her throat with the other. The female said that it became difficult for her to breathe and blacked out.

The female party denied any medical attention from the offi cer. She continued to explain she yelled at her boyfriend to stop while he was choking her and he eventually let go of her throat but kept hold of her hair. She was able to escape, but not before he pulled her hair and then shoved her with his free hand. She ran to another residence and called 911.

While the female party was at the current location, she watched as her boyfriend got into his car and drove off.

The officer, along with two Clark County deputies, went to make contact with the male party at a different residence. The vehicle the male party was located in the garage but the officers could not locate the male party.

The officer had ran the first name the female party gave him and found two warrants in a neighboring county.

The officer noticed the female party was under the age of 16 and living with her sister. The school officer was contacted to see if there were records of her at either school, which there was not. She was informed she needed to be enrolled in school, and to contact the school officer.

The officer was given permission to search the residence of the female and male party, which resulted in finding fake ID and social security cards. The items were confiscated by the officer. He later located the male party at his place of employment and the male party was taken in for questioning. The officer notified the male party was being arrested for child abuse and disorderly conduct and for the two warrants.

_ Feb. 12 - An officer was dispatched to an Abbotsford residence in reference to a theft report.

Upon arriving at the residence the officer met with a male individual by his vehicle. The male individual told the officer that he had come home and was unloading some items from the running vehicle. While he was inside of his residence someone had removed the keys from his ignition and took off with them. The male individual said that his father had seen a younger male hanging around near the vehicle while his son was unloading it.

The officer was described the set of keys and was told that the male individual contacted the landlord but they were out of town but did give permission to the officer to access the camera system.

The male individual would remove the battery cables and call if he saw anyone come back to his vehicle.

The landlord had someone come and review the surveillance and reported to have seen a male neighbor remove the keys. The male individual said they went to the residence of the male neighbor who was very intoxicated and got his keys back without incident.

_ Feb. 13 - An officer was dispatched to an Abbotsford business for a possible disturbance.

The officer made contact with an employee, who then explained a female party came in and had seen two individuals getting into an very loud argument outside the business. The female party stated the two individuals were female and male and it seemed the male party had, after arguing very loudly, push the female into the vehicle.

After watching footage of the two individuals on surveillance video, the officer made contact with both individuals to discuss what had transpired.

_ Feb. 13 - An officer was dispatched to a Colby apartment complex in reference to suspicious activity. When the officer arrived he made contact with the manager, who explained while showing an open apartment he had noticed the screen for the living room window had been laying on the floor of the living room. The manager also noticed the window in the bedroom had no screen on it and was laying in the snow outside of the window.

The manager also noticed a blue bag in the closet of the bedroom and stated that no one was supposed to be in the apartment as it was a vacant apartment. He did not give anyone permission to be inside the apartment.

The officer seized the blue bag and transported it back to the precinct where he then searched the bag for any identifi cation. He located a black broken phone, clear bottle of honey, special blue ultra pure butane fuel, green and white bio-freeze bottle and a black torch. There were also several pieces of clothing in the bag.

The manager had confirmed that he had locked all windows and doors to the apartment.
