The Stratford varsity boys basketball team’s comeback 63-57 home win against Chequamegon on Friday was just what the doctor ordered, following the team’s fourpoint home loss to Marathon in its previous game.

Stratford’s victory on Friday was especially sweet, considering it was also Senior Night for the following Tiger senior players: Cameron Mootz, Cade Bruesewitz, Devin Ulrich, Camden Daul, Brett Bangart, Kaden Griesmer, Noah Barrett and Zack Seitz.

Brett Bangart, the son of Mike and Deanne (Brusky) Bangart, certainly enjoyed his Senior Night.

“It was really special knowing all eight of us seniors were recognized for our leadership skills on the basketball court,” he said.

The Tigers fell behind, 32-30, to the Screaming Eagles at halftime. Stratford rallied in the second half, however, to grab the victory thanks to junior guard Braeden Schueller’s eight straight points and Daul’s four straight free throws at the end to seal the win. Schueller sank a trio of three pointers to help lead the Tigers’ second- half comeback.

Daul led Stratford with 19 points, eight rebounds and two steals in the win against Chequamegon. Schueller was second on the team in scoring with 14 points, followed by junior Ashton Wrensch and Bruesewitz with 11 points each. Bruesewitz paced the Tigers with seven assists.
