Irene E. Fallon, 78, of Withee, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2022 at Aspirus Hospital in Medford.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 26 at Hemer-Pickerign Funeral Home in Medford with Rev. David Clements officiating.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel. Masks are required at the visitation and service, and will be made available.
Irene was born Nov. 13, 1943 in Chicago, Ill. to Herbert and Delores (Ebert) Zimmermann. She grew up in Chicago and graduated from Luther High School North, class of 1961.
Irene continued her education at Lincoln College where she studied and obtained a degree in Liberal Arts.
On June 3, 2000, she married James Fallon in Medford. They had been together for 23 years. They resided in Withee, town of Hammel, and Irene managed a local women’s shelter.
With true kindness in her heart and a love for the world, Irene supported many organizations, including The Arbor Foundation, the Humane Association, the Nature Conservancy, Boys and Girls Club of Wausau, and Stepping Stones, a non-profit domestic violence place of shelter and education. Irene’s generosity was contagious and her family attributes much of their own compassion and giving nature to learning it from her.
She will be dearly missed by her brother, Herb Zimmermann of Maplewood, Minn.; sister, Ruth Fazekas of Portage; nieces; and nephews, Paul Fazekas, Melissa Fazekas, both of Portage, Sarah (Elizabeth) Koponen Zimmermann of Maplewood, Anthony Marsala of Forest Lake, Minn., and Michelle Jarvis of Luck; and dear friends, Valerie Euclide, Jules Librande and Rose Morano.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; and nephew, Joseph Marsala.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated and may go to Stepping Stones of Medford.
