John Kenneth Sargent John Kenneth Sargent

John Kenneth Sargent, 70, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021.

John was born Nov. 28, 1951, in Cornell.

He grew up in Cornell, alongside his siblings, Lenny (Sargent) Warnke, Vicki (Sargent) Hurlburt and Dave Sargent.

After high school, John enlisted in the military and served two years, in the United States Army.

He attended Chippewa Valley Technical College when his children were young and became a certified mechanic. He was married to Anita Simington Oct. 25, 1975.

John and Anita spent 45 very happy years together, and more than anything in the world, loved spending time with their six children, more than 20 grandchildren and even great-grandchildren.

He was a lover of the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, especially on the river where he grew up. John was a deer hunter in his younger days and his later years, spent more time on one of his favorite hobbies, woodworking.

Teaching his children basic auto repair skills was a passion of his, ensuring all his children knew how to take care of their cars. If Dad was under the hood, so were his kids, watching, listening, handing him tools and learning how to be self-sufficient.

He is survived by his children – T.J. (Jessica) Larson, Nick (Cathy) Sargent, Katie (Kevin) Klein, Jenny (Keven) Blaisdell, Bobbi (Josh) Spangler – and Joe (Jamie) Rady; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents – Donald Sargent and Lois Skoug; his daughter – Marcy (Sargent) Larson; and earlier this year, by his loving wife – Anita.

John was passionate about supporting local ministries. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Cross Parish at www.dioceseoflacrosse.com/parishes or New Hope Assembly of God at https://cornellhope.com/give.

Per John’s wishes, a private memorial will be held by immediate family.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.bortonleiserfuneralhome. com. Borton-Leiser Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cornell, is assisting the family.
