Rachel A. Richardson, 97, Chippewa Falls, formerly of Greenwood, went home to be with the Lord at HSHS St.

Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 20, at the Missionary Baptist Church in Greenwood.

Rev. Geoff Smith and Rev. John Schopf will co-officiate and burial will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Eric Cole, Seth Spate, Vance Threatt, Mark Wallace, Nathan Spate and Gerry Richardson. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Rachel Jean Anderson was born on May 21, 1924, in Zion, Ill., the daughter of Milton and Leontine (nee Federmyer) Anderson, and was raised on the family farm. She graduated from Zion-Benton High School in 1942. She married Earl H. Richardson on March 5, 1943, and followed him to South Carolina where he completed his military training. While Earl was deployed overseas, Rachel worked in the Zion area. Later, two children were born: Brent and Patricia. In 1951, Rachel and Earl moved to Greenwood and worked together on the family dairy farm. Rachel also worked at Wuethrich’s Creamery as a bookkeeper for more than 50 years. Rachel and Earl were faithful members of Missionary Baptist Church in Greenwood. For the last eight years, Rachel lived with her grandson, daughter and son-in-law in Chippewa Falls. While there, she attended Lighthouse Baptist Church when physically able. Rachel was also a founding and active board member of Liberty Christian School in Chippewa Falls since its inception in 1989. Rachel enjoyed serving others by sending cards, sharing baked goods, and hosting friends or guests at home.

Rachel is survived by her daughter: Patricia (John) Spate of Chippewa Falls; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Rhoda Richardson of Rockford, Ill.; her brother, Donald Anderson of Madison; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl; her son, Brent; her brother, Wes Anderson; and her sister, Irene Christophersen.
