1946-2021

Marilyn Faye Story, 75 of Jump River, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021 at Minneapolis Heart Institute Abbott Northwestern Hospital with family at her side. A funeral Mass will be on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Jump River. Burial will take place at Mount Nebo Cemetery in Jump River at a later date. Visitation will be on Friday, Dec. 10 from 5-8 p.m. at the Gilman Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

She was born on July 23, 1946 in the Township of McKinley to the late Charles and Eva (Hink) Latz, the youngest of nine children. She grew up in Jump River and graduated from Gilman High School in 1964. She was united in marriage to Dorvin Story on October 9, 1965 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Jump River. They moved to Waukesha where she worked for the Social Security office. They then lived in Chippewa Falls before settling on the farm in Jump River in 1969, where they have lived and worked side by side since. Marilyn was an Insurance Agent for the Sheldon Insurance Agency and most recently, a bookkeeper for the Garage Salon in Chippewa Falls.

Marilyn could usually be found out in the yard where she spent countless hours landscaping and tending to the pond and many plants and flowers. What she looked forward to most was spending time with family, especially at the lake where she couldn’t wait to get out on the pontoon and feel the breeze on her face.

She will forever remain in the hearts of and be deeply missed by her husband of 56 years and their four children,Tammy (Michael) Bradley of Fairchild, Troy (Cheryl) Story of Holcombe, Traci (Larry) Walteraitis of Thorp and Travis (Melissa) Story of Stillwater, Minn.; 11 grandchildren, Nicole (Michael) Dube, Sydney (Antonio) Pintaro, Jacob Bradley, Anah, Aden and Ava Story, Lucas and Tori Walteraitis, Noah and Riley Hill and Olivia Story; and two great-grandchildren, Braxton Troy Dube and Letti Faye Pintaro. Marilyn is also survived by her sister/best friend, Irene (Ronald) Konsella of Gilman; brothers-in-law, Richard Roever of Woodburn, Ore.; and sister-in-laws, Carol Story and Addie “Masey” Thorkelson, both of Lynnwood, Wash., Debbie Kujawa of Eau Claire, Jeane Story of Altoona, Peggy Warner of Lake Hallie; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her three brothers, Albert Latz, Charles Latz Jr. and Earl Duane Latz; and four sisters, Jean Roever, Lucille Herrick, Lela Olejnizcak and Shirley Mayo.
