Roger W. Domask Sr. Roger W. Domask Sr.

1928-2021

Roger W. Domask Sr., 93, of Manitowoc, formerly of Rib Lake, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021 at home. A funeral will be held at 12 p.m., Friday, Dec. 3, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Chelsea with the Rev. Ralph Shorey officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.

Roger was born April 8, 1928 in Milwaukee to Ralph and Helen (Preiss) Domask. He grew up in Milwaukee and graduated from Central High School. After high school, Roger was accepted as a patent draftsman apprentice at Allis Chalmers in West Allis, Wis. He volunteered to serve two years in the United States Navy, then returned to finish his apprenticeship and continued to work at Allis Chalmers until his retirement in 1985.

Upon his return from the Navy, Roger and some friends would go to the Eagle Ballroom in Milwaukee to dance and socialize. One night, he spent the evening dancing with a pretty young woman named Eunice. She later became his wife, and they were married for 66 years and raised two sons and a daughter. They moved to Rib Lake in 1986 where they lived for 34 years.

Roger had a great love for the outdoors. He was a lifelong gardener, golfer and tennis player. He shared his love for the outdoors by taking the family on countless camping trips, teaching his kids to hike, fish, and cook over a campfire. Roger was a competitive horseshoe player, bean bag toss, and was famous for his ping pong.

Roger loved to fish, taking Eunice, or the grandkids out whenever he could to Wood Lake. Age may have slowed him down, but he still went to Lake of the Woods for walleye, and Park Falls for sturgeon fishing with his son and grandson. He spent many happy hours this year catching bluegills and bullheads with his family.

Roger enjoyed ice fishing, deer and grouse hunting, and cross country skiing in winter, always accompanied by one of his beloved dogs. He always fed the birds, but often more squirrels than birds.

Roger and Eunice enjoyed hosting church picnics at their home near Wood Lake, playing volleyball and barbecuing with their church family and friends. He made maple syrup for many years, a memory his grandkids will cherish forever. His large gardens provided a yearlong supply of vegetables and brought him great joy.

He is survived by his three children, Roger Jr. (Ellen) Domask of Hayward, Phillip (Christine) Domask of Rochester, Minn., Nan (John) Resch of Manitowoc; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eunice on Dec. 10, 2016; siblings, Ralph, Robert, Richard and Caroline; and a step-sister, Gayle.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated and may go to Trinity Lutheran Church- Chelsea, St Jude’s Children Hospital, the Shriners children hospital or to the charity of your choice.
