Mary Gonnering
Mary Ann Gonnering, age 76, of Dorchester, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at her residence under the tender care of Hope Hospice.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Father Timothy Oudenhoven presided. Family and friends were welcomed on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.
Mary was born on May 27, 1945, the daughter of Raymond and Harriet (Wesley) Meyer in the Medford Hospital. She graduated from Dor-Abby High School. Mary was united in marriage to Gerald Gonnering on May 22, 1965 at Saint Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. She worked as an assistant school cookserver and was a homemaker and a farmwife. She lived all her life in the Dorchester area. Mary was a member of Saint Louis Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers and was a devoted Christian.
Mary enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, fishing, camping, sewing, baking, loved her chickens, and riding in their Hudson, but most importantly she cherished spending time with her family and grandchildren. Mary is survived by her husband, Gerald of Dorchester; children: Debra (Jeff) Jacobson of New Richmond, Sandra (Chris) Malovrh of Medford, Kimberly (John) Drolshagen of Medford, Kelly (James) Larson of Deer Park and Glen (Amanda) Gonnering of Mosinee; nine grandchildren: Ashley (Evan) Sarauer of New Auburn, Erica Nikkila of Wausau, Amber Drolshagen of Spencer, Elizabeth Jacobson of Avon, Minn., Lawson Emerson of Wausau, Carter Larson of Deer Park, Harper Larson of Deer Park, Kymber Gonnering of Mosinee and Lainey Gonnering of Mosinee. She is further survived by her siblings: Jim Meyer of Medford, Sharon Bychinski of Reedsburg, Joanne Kroening of Edgar and Jeff Meyer of Medford; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents. The family would like to thank the staff of Hope Hospice of Medford for the excellent care they provided to Mary and the family.
