Sally Marie Hermann
1943-2021
Sally Marie Hermann was born on November 20, 1943 to Bernice and Joseph Sivulka. She started her journey to heaven to reunite with them on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021. Sally has endured years of health issues but, was determined to fight the best she could and live as good a life as possible despite her health. She was a strong woman. Unfortunately, Covid was something she couldn’t fight.
Sally is survived by her husband, Russell Hermann; daughters, Tammy Sargent (Bill), Paula Sullivan (Rob); son, Russ Hermann; grandchildren Mariah Hermann, Ben Hermann, Kylie Hermann, Landin Margano, Kovi Hermann, Ava Hermann and Sophia Sullivan; her four sisters Evelyn Clarkson, Catherine Henke, Shirley Olson, Mary Lou Poehler; and one brother, Joseph Sivulka.
Her story? She grew up in Medford. Then moved to Milwaukee for work and there she eventually met her husband. She worked 3rd shift in manufacturing (Applied Plastics Inc.) while her children were going through school. When Russell was scaling back on his upholstery business, they started a successful tanning salon business out of their home. Sally loved her conversations and friendships with all her customers. The Salon is still in business today, being run by Tammy, which Sally was proud of.
It isn’t clear why, but during their years of living in the Milwaukee area, Sally would always take in several of her nephews during the summer months and treat them as her own children. Some may claim it was because of her amazing personality. But you may have to ask ”the boys“ about that one! Regardless, there was ALWAYS a place in the Hermann household for whomever needed a place to stay. Sally and Russell lived in the Milwaukee area until 2014 when they retired and moved to their quiet and peaceful cabin in Whittlesey.
There were a few things that we all knew about Sally. She would not drink anything but Pepsi. Even in her last few days, the nurse had to go to the gas station to buy her a Pepsi because the hospital only had Coke and she was having no part of that! Asti was her drink of choice if her kids or nephews drove her nuts, and she needed something stronger than Pepsi. Iceberg lettuce is the only lettuce that should be eaten, according to her, ”Everything else doesn’t taste right.” Even though she couldn’t taste. Of course, we all know that Sally was always cold. It didn’t matter what the temperature was, it was never warm enough and she always had to have a blanket on! Going to their house required beach apparel as it was always extremely hot inside.
Sally Hermann will be missed by so many. She provided so much love and many good memories to so many people. Her legacy will live on forever.
Her family will hold a celebration of life at a later date for friends and family to share these memories.
