Montana and Maverick Birkenholz earn scholarships

Wisconsin Cervid Farmers’ Foundation (W.C.F.F.), which is the educational arm of Whitetails of Wisconsin (W.O.W.), awarded a $500 scholarship to Montana Birkenholz and a $500 scholarship to Maverick Birkenholz at the W.O.W. Annual Spring Meeting previously held at The Three Bears Resort in Warrens, March 20. According to W.C.F.F., they are two of four winners selected each year.

Montana attended Gilman High School and is currently seeking a degree in English Education at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Her plans are to become a High School English teacher. She is the grandchild of Robert and Elva Drier, who have been members of Whitetails of Wisconsin since 2010. Behind Montana’s success included being one of the Valedictorians of her class and a member of the National Honor Society. She was also a four-year starter on her volleyball and softball teams both acquiring Conference Championships with softball a trip to State.

Maverick attended Gilman High School and is currently seeking a major in Business Administration with a minor in the Science of Coaching at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He is the grandchild of Robert and Elva Drier, who have been members of Whitetails of Wisconsin since 2010. Behind Maverick’s success included 4.0 GPA while being captain of the football and baseball teams. He also was actively involved in many clubs including NHS, Letterman’s Club, VICA, FBLA and Student Council. He thrived in advanced classes such as Physics, Calculus and Statistics. Maverick is an avid outdoorsman, doing a lot of whitetail, grouse and pheasant hunting with occasional waterfowl hunting.

W.O.W. is an association representing an industry that has an annual economic impact on Wisconsin’s economy of $75 million. W.O.W. is a political voice for approximately 400 deer breeders in Wisconsin. They represent the deer industry by working closely with state and federal legislators and regulatory agencies to develop rules and regulations that govern the deer industry.
