Lester ‘Les’ W. Buehler of Medford passed away Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021 at his home in the town of Medford under the care of his family and Hope Hospice, for five days. A memorial mass for Les will take place on Monday, Oct. 11 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Patrick McConnell officiating. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Monday, Oct. 11 from 9 am-11 am at Holy Rosary until the time of service at 11am. A meal and celebration of life will follow the service. Les’ grandchildren will serve as urnbearers.

Les was born on Mar. 27, 1940 to William ‘Bill’ and Dorothy (Fleischman) Buehler in Medford. Les was united in marriage to Rita Egle on Jan. 6, 1962 at Holy Rosary in Medford.

He was a 1958 graduate of Medford High School.

Les was an operating engineer for 18 years for Peterson Construction of Medford, before starting his own gravel and later topsoil business in 1979. He was among the first in the area to blend screened topsoil with peat and sand. He greatly enjoyed his business and customers and would probably still be screening topsoil if ill health had not forced his retirement.

Les was an excellent woodworker and crafter. He and Rita enjoyed traveling and crafting together.

Les was a Town of Medford supervisor for 14 years. He was also a past member of both the Whittlesey and Medford Lions. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Les is survived by his wife Rita of 59 years; his three children, Jim and Lori Buehler, Kathy and Dick Czerniak and Jon and Carola Buehler all of Medford; seven grandchildren, Cassandra and Andy Leonard, Josh Buehler and Ally, Jill and Joe Szczepanski, Jay Czerniak, Becky and Andy Yount, Bill Buehler and Bob Buehler and Nathan Michielson. He has one great-granddaughter, Clarice Leonard; along with siblings, Francis, Marie, Dorothy Rae, Carol and Richard; and also four step-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Bill and Walter (in infancy) and also by his dog, Teddy.
