Marcella “Marcie” C. Poirier, 85, of Medford, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021 at Aspirus Care and Rehab under the care of Hope Hospice. A memorial mass for Marcie will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, 2021 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with Father Patrick McConnell officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
Marcie was born on Aug. 2, 1936 to Joseph and Selma (Bormann) Hartman in Medford. She attended Holy Rosary Catholic School and graduated from Medford High School in 1954. She married William “Bill” H. Poirier on June 18, 1955; he preceded her in death on October 9, 2008. She worked at Florena’s Supper Club for a period of time. She then worked at Hurd from 1979 until her retirement in 1998.
She was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. In her spare time she enjoyed the outdoors, especially riding motorcycle and snowmobiles, skiing, and fishing. She was very outgoing and social and enjoyed playing cards. She also enjoyed music and dabbled with playing the guitar.
Marcie is survived by her children Jeannie (John) Deml of Medford, Jack Poirier of Stetsonville, and Julie (Robert) Frombach of Medford; nine grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren; daughter-in-law Rebecca Poirier-Mielke of Colby; sisters, Sister Marie Hartman of Milwaukee, Betty (Everette) Huebner of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dottie Clark of Baraboo; sister-in-law, Connie (Mike) Schmidt of Stetsonville. Marcie is further survived by many other family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marcie is preceded in death by her son, James Poirier; brothers, Ray, Clint, Bud, and Lester; sisters, Evelyn Ross and Mabel Zenner.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Marcie’s name may be given to either Hope Hospice or Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
