Questions why county board members wouldn’t be willing to reaffirm their oaths

Vox Pop

First let me say, I am not a writer so I am sure I will not be as proficient as some would be writing how I feel about a recent visit to the Board of Supervisors meeting on Sept 21, 2021.

A resolution was brought forward for the Board of Supervisors to reaffirm the Oath of Office swearing to support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Wisconsin. The resolution failed with 9 of the Supervisors voting no. My question is why?

Why wouldn’t they reaffirm the oath that each of them took? There is nothing wrong with saying over and over again that you support the Constitution, is there? They are in a position to work for the people not for themselves, right?

Don’t people repeat their marriage vows and get remarried a second time? It doesn’t mean that they don’t love their spouse, it just means they want to reaffirm their love. Don’t you say “I love you” every day to someone near and dear to you? It doesn’t mean you have to, it’s that you want to….to reaffirm your love. So, my question still remains, why wouldn’t these 9 Supervisors reaffirm their support for the Constitution?

They took it personal and that is not their job. One supervisor supposedly said “I already took the Oath once….why do I have to do it again?” Maybe because the people you supposedly work for ask you to. Remember, you work for us. Doesn’t Nancy Pelosi also take that oath? Look what happens there! As for me, I will stand up and shout from the roof top, every day, if need be, to say that I support the Constitution of the United States and not take it personally.

It’s time “We the People” start getting more involved in our local government. Supervisors should not feel reaffirming their Oath of Office is a personal attack on them. They should feel proud to do it.
