The Colby girls and Colby/Abbbotsford boys took advantage of a little home cooking to chop down times and improve their form on Saturday, hosting multiple teams at their home invite.

It was a deep field for both teams, with several D-2 schools at the meet. The Colby girls finished third with 86 points. Medford took the event with a team score of 26, and West Salem was second with a 38.

Daisy Feiten and Willow Oehmichen made for an excellent 1-2 punch for Colby, placing 14th and 15th in 22:40 and 22:43. Mercedes Sarkkinen and Trinity Severson completed the 3.1 mile course in the top 20. Sarkkinen was 17th overall in 23:09, and Severson was 20th in 23:23. Regan Schraufnagel was the final scoring runner for Colby, placing 28th in 24:26.

Casey Reynolds and Ella Halopka were the final varsity runners, taking 33rd in 24:45, and 36th in 25:05. Freshman Pearl Feiten came next, taking 40th in 25:37. Veronica Mateer and Elizabeth Winters continue to pace each other, taking 50th and 54th in 27:37 and 28:35.

Gianna Mundt and Jenelle Ertl were 65th and 67th in 30:07 and 30:40. Allie Robida was 71st in 33:02, and Brittney Meyer placed 74th in 49:39.

Several runners stepped up for the boys team, turning in new personal records. The boys co-op finished sixth with 152 points. West Salem won the meet with a 40, followed by Mauston with 45 and Altoona with 80.

Talon Severson led the boys, taking 15th overall in a time of 18:57. Matt Mateer had a season best with a 19:42 for 24th overall. Max Adams set a PR by 24 seconds, crossing the finish line in 34th place in 19:57. Freshman Bryan Camargo competed his first race in 21:26 for 51st. Braylon Schoelzel was 53rd in 21:37, and set a new PR. Noah Kulas cut a minute off his old PR to place 60th 22:43. Josiah Bridger was 74th in 24:39.

The teams will see an even steeper level of competition this Saturday when they travel to Wausau for the return of the Bill Smiley Invitational.
