Deanna Esther Handel

1941-2021

Deanna Esther Handel of Belgium, Wis. formerly of Milwaukee, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2021.

She was born to Ernest and Mildred Bergmann on September 26, 1941 in Goodrich, Wis. She had four brothers, Galen, Larry, Rodney and Randy. She was raised in Goodrich and went to high school in Medford where she met the love of her life Arnold Leroy Handel. They married on Sept. 15, 1962 and together they had four children, Jeff, Todd, Wendy and Melody. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, dining out, shopping, watching television and spending time with her 13 grandchildren. She especially enjoyed surprising her grandkids with gifts and treats and watching their faces light up with joy when they opened the package!

Deanna leaves behind three children, Jeff Handel and his wife Tracie, Todd Handel and his husband John, Wendy Lybek and her husband Bob; son-in-law Larry Wehrman; brothers Galen and Randy Bergmann; thirteen grandchildren; and eight (soon to be 10) great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Handel; parents, Ernest and Mildred Bergmann; brothers, Larry and Rodney Bergmann; and daughter, Melody Wehrman.

The family would like to thank the staff at Belgium Gardens and Allay Hospice for the care they provided in making Deanna’s final days comfortable.

A graveside service will be held.
