Nicole Therese Buechel, 39, of Stetsonville, died Thursday, July 1, 2021 at home surrounded by her family.

Connell officiating. Brewers; watching Seinfeld (she knew every line of every episode!); playing games of all kinds; boat rides on the lake; being outdoors; and she was an avid reader. All of these things paled in comparison to the love she had for her family, especially her two beloved children Marshall and Brooke. Nicole cherished time with them and loved being their mom.

Nicole will be dearly missed by her husband, Simon of Stetsonville; children, Marshall Matthew and Brooke Therese, both at home; parents, Dave and Laurie Lavin of Stetsonville; brother, Dan Lavin of Medford; mother and father-in-law, Lorie (William) Schmitz of Lake Havasu, Ariz., Merlin Buechel of Medford; maternal grandparents, Rodney and Mary Ann Kropp of Rib lake; paternal grandmother, Joanne Lavin of Medford; brothers and sistersin- law, Sam (Lana) Buechel, Christian (Bethany) Buechel, all of Eau Claire, Austin and Alice Schmitz of Lake Havasu; niece and nephew, Morgan and Jordan Lavin of Medford; and many wonderful coworkers, neighbors and dear friends.

Nicole was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Richard Lavin.

Memorials in Nicole’s honor are appreciated and will go towards an education fund for her children.

Nicole was born Sept. 30, 1981 in Medford to Laurie (Kropp) and David Lavin. She graduated from Medford High School, class of 2000. Nicole went on to earn her B.S. degree in Elementary Education from UW-Stevens Point, and her Master’s degree in Education from Marian University.

On June 24, 2006, Nicole married Simon Buechel at OLPH in Whittelsey. They resided in Stetsonville where Nicole taught 2nd grade at Stetsonville Elementary School.

Nicole had many interests and was always up for anything. Summer was her favorite season and she loved to be on the water and to travel (especially if a beach was involved).
