The Loyal girls track team took first place as a team for the final time during regular season competition last week after participating in the Neillsville Invitational on June 1. The Greyhound girls had numerous competitors take either first or second place at the invite, preparing them for the start of late season competition which started this week.

Six individual first-place finishes were earned by four girls on the Loyal team. Savannah Schley won three of those events, taking first in the 100m dash (13.13), the 800m run (2:27.61) and in the 400m dash (1:01.61). Alyssia Zvolena took first place in the high jump with her leap of 5’2”, Abrial Kubista won the triple jump with her leap of 31’10”, and Aubre Robida ran a 27.63 in the 200m dash to win that event.

Other individual results for the Loyal girls are as follows: Abrial Kubista, 2nd, 100m hurdles, 18.98, 2nd, 300m hurdles, 56.83; Aubre Robida, 2nd, 100m dash, 13.30; Leah Scherer, 2nd, 200m dash, 27.78, 3rd, long jump, 14’; Maci Bogdonovich, 2nd, 1600m run, 7:02.15, 5th, 800m run, 3:07.70; Haven Peroshek, 2nd, shot put, 30’4”, 3rd, discus, 81’7”; Sheila Tellock, 2nd, pole vault, 8’6”; Brianna Hederer, 3rd, pole vault, 7’6”, 5th, 400m dash, 1:20.54; Shalisha Buchanan, 3rd, shot put, 30’.5”; Ella Rand, 4th, pole vault, 5’6”, 6th, 400m dash, 1:24.01; Hannah Smith, 5th, shot put, 26’4”; Halle Aumann, 8th, long jump, 12’2.5”.

The Loyal girls also had three of their relay teams place first at Neillsville. The 4X100m relay team of Aubre Robida, Sheila Tellock, Leah Scherer and Alyssia Zvolena completed the race in 52.89 for first; the 4X200m relay team of Abrial Kubista, Haven Peroshek, Ella Rand and Tellock finished in 1:56.09 to win the race, and the 4X400m relay team of Zvolena, Tellock, Peroshek and Rand ran a 5:00.17 to take first place.

Two other relay teams competed for the Greyhound girls. Placing second was the 4X800m relay team (13:34.03) of Halle Aumann, Brianna Hederer, Ella Rand and Maci Bogdonovich. Shalisha Buchanan, Hannah Smith, Halle Aumann and Haven Peroshek ran the 4X100m relay, taking fourth place with a time of 1:02.54.

On the boys’ side of the course, the Greyhounds had one relay team place first. The 4X200m relay team, consisting of David Nikolai, Kaden Olson, Jaden Ruggles and Sully Hanson, finished the race in 1:45.06 to win the event. The same group ran the 4X100m relay in 50.26, taking second place. Bo Bogdonovich, Sam Lathrop, Riley Schneider and Aden Smrka completed the 4X100m relay as well, taking sixth place with a time of 1:02.

Individual results for the Loyal boys are as follows: Seth Genteman, 2nd, 800m run, 2:11.67, 4th, 1600m run, 5:14.44; Sully Hanson, 3rd, 100m dash, 12.19; David Nikolai, 4th, discus, 89’1.5”; Connor Genteman, 4th, long jump, 15’2”; Kaden Olson, 5th, 110m hurdles, 20.89, 5th, triple jump, 31’3.75”; Bo Bogdonovich, 6th, 400m dash, 1:05.19; Riley Schneider, 7th, shot put, 26’2.5”; Aden Smrka, 8th, shot put, 23.9.5”.

The Spencer track and field team also competed at the Neillsville invite on June 1, with the boys team taking fourth and the girls placing fifth overall. One individual and one relay team took first place for the Rocket boys. Connor Clark, Will Gorst, Alexander Baumgarten and Elliot Bauer collaborated on the 4X100m relay, taking first place with a time of 48.21. Individually, Cameron Nieman won the high jump, earning the placing with his 5’8” jump.

Other individual results for the Spencer boys are as follows: Connor Clark, 2nd, pole vault, 10’9”; Elliott Bauer, 2nd, 100m dash, 12.07, 4th, 200m dash, 12.07; Will Gorst, 3rd, long jump, 16’6.75”, 5th, 100m dash, 13.13; Kyle Nieman, 5th, pole vault, 9’, 7th, 300m hurdles, 53.79; Alexander Baumgarten, 5th, 200m dash, 26.42; Malachai Anderson, 5th, 800m run, 2:26.66, 6th, pole vault, 8’6”; Cameron Nieman, 5th, 1600m run, 5:42.27.

For the girls, Leah Zastrow took first place in three events. She ran the 100m hurdles in 16.52 seconds, finished the 300m hurdles in 51 seconds and vaulted to a height of 10’6” in the pole vault to win each event. Zastrow also took fourth place in the 100m dash (13.76).

Several other Rocket girls placed in the top eight. Emily Wehrman took second place in two of her events, earning the placings in the 400m dash (1:11.30) and in the 800m run (2:50.06). Taking fourth place in the discus was Elisha Blanchard, who threw the discus a distance of 79’. Alyssa Kobs threw for a distance of 26’.25” in the shot put to take sixth place and placed seventh in the discus with her throw of 63’.5”.

The Granton girls track team had solid individual placings at the Neillsville invite, resulting in a fourth place finish as a team. Ashlee Piskow, Olivia Piskow, Dolorosa Thomas and Faustina Thomas ran the team’s only relay, taking first place in the 4X800 with a time of 12:31.48. Individually, Ashlee Piskow took first place in two events, winning the 1600m run (6:24.23) and the 3200m run (14:05.96).

Other individual results for the Granton girls are as follows: Olivia Piskow, 2nd, discus, 83’1.5”, 4th, shot put, 26’6.5”, 7th, 800m run, 3:29.09; Faustina Thomas, 3rd, 400m dash, 1:14.33; Alexis Pongratz, 3rd, 1600m run, 7:11.48, 6th, 800m run, 3:18.69; Dolorosa Thomas, 4th, 300m hurdles, 59.67, 5th, long jump, 13’2.5”.

As a team, the Loyal girls earned 203 points to win the meet. Neillsville was second (126), Columbus Catholic took third (83), Granton was fourth with 69 points, Spencer finished fifth with 61 points, Owen-Withee was sixth (13) and Thorp was seventh (8).

For the boys, Neillsville was first with 250 points. Columbus Catholic took second (97), Owen-Withee was third (75), Spencer finished fourth with 72 points, Loyal took fifth with 64 points and Thorp was sixth (7).
