Athletes prepare for conference


Marawood track championships are on Monday
The Edgar girls and Marathon boys won track and field team titles at the rain-shortened Wausau Newman Quad on May 25.
Edgar sophomore Ella Morse won the 100-meter dash in 13.70 seconds, senior Rachel Brewster 100-meter hurdles in 17.02 and sophomore Morgan Schnelle the long jump with 15 feet, 1-3/4 inches. The Wildcats 4x100-meter relay team of Rachel Brewster, Malia Hoesly, Amber Skrzypcak and Morgan Schnelle won the event in 52.60 seconds. Edgar’s 4x200-meter relay of Brewster, Morse, Skrzypcak and Morgan Schnelle won in one minute, 50.62 seconds.
For the Marathon girls, junior McKinnley Marks won the 1,600-meter run in six minutes, 18.73 seconds and Hope Krautkramer won the shot put with 35 feet, 11 inches. For the Red Raider boys, senior Cullen Krasselt won the 1,600-meter run in five minutes, 7.97 seconds and sophomore Drake Carlson the 1,600-meter wheelchair. Junior Michael Kindlarski won the 110-meter hurdles in 16.72 seconds.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Sam Dick, Matt Annis, Matt Vande Boom and Jared Sweno won the event in 45.65 seconds. The same group of boys also won the 4x200-meter relay in one minute, 35.49 seconds. The 4x800-meter relay of Jaron Gage, Griffin Treankler, Owen Marks and Cullen Krasselt won in nine minutes, 34 seconds.
Athens at Marathon meet
The Marathon boys and girls won their home track meet on Monday. The Athens girls placed sixth and the Athens boys were seventh out of 11 teams.
For the Athens boys, junior Caden Decker won the pole vault with 13 feet and junior Aiden Guralski placed second with 11 feet, six inches. Sophomore Aiden Janke took second place in the discus with 138 feet, one inch. For the girls, senior Montana Albrecht won both the 100-meter hurdles in 15.88 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles in 47.92.
Senior Brooke Mueller of Athens took second place in the triple jump with 31 feet, 10 inches and senior Nancy Schrein- er was third in the pole vault with seven feet, six inches. Junior Elizabeth Van Rixel placed third in the 3,200-meter run in 13 minutes, 37.20 seconds.
For the Marathon girls, junior Jenna Aschbrenner won the pole vault with nine feet, six inches and she placed second in the high jump with five feet. Junior Laci Hoeksema won the 800-meter run in two minutes, 32.63 seconds, junior McKinnley Marks placed second in the 3,200-meter run in 13 minutes, 15.70 seconds and sophomore Chloe LaValley was second in the long jump with 14 feet, 7-3/4 inches.
Senior Hope Krautkramer won the shot put with 36 feet, nine inches and junior Alyssa Hall placed second with 35 feet, 5-3/4 inches. Hall won the discus with 109 feet, 11 inches and Krautkramer was second with 108 feet, one inch.
The girls 4x100-meter relay of Jenna Aschbrenner, Grace Kahon, Alexandria Kraimer and Lindsey Sparr won the event in 53.33 seconds. The 4x800-meter relay of Chentaly Phakitthong, Venessa Krueger, McKinnley Marks and Julianna Thurs won the event in 10 minutes, 37.61 seconds.
For the boys, Drake Carlson won the 100, 400 and 800-meter wheelchair runs. Michael Kindlarski won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.54 seconds and senior Colton Free placed second in 16.62. Sophomore Griffin Treankler won the 300-meter hurdles in 44.38 seconds.
Junior Brett Gertschen won the discus with 145 feet, 10 inches and he placed second in the shot put with 44 feet, 11.50 inches. Sophomore Matt Anis took second place in the 200-meter dash in 23.66 seconds. The 4x100-meter relay of Jared Sweno, Tanner Hanke, Sam Dick and Matt Vande Boom won the event in 45.91 seconds.
Stratford at Medford meet
Senior boy Drey Drexler of Stratford won both the shot put with 44 feet, six inches and the discus with 127 feet, 10 inches at the Medford Invitational on Monday. He also placed third in the 100-meter dash in 12.50 seconds.
Freshman Noah Lucio placed third in the 800-meter run in two minutes, 7.32 seconds and sophomore Lance Krieg was third in the 1,600-meter run in five minutes, 14.11 seconds.
For the girls, junior Alexis Folz took second place in the shot put with 29 feet, 1-1/2 inches and third in the discus with 83 feet, six inches. Junior Jaidyn Wright placed third in the triple jump with 32 feet, 3-1/4 inches and fourth in the long jump with 15 feet, 1-1/2 inches.
The Marawood Conference track and field championships start at 3:30 p.m. this Monday, June 7, in Marathon.
Edgar at Rosholt meet
The Edgar girls won the Rosholt Back the Track meet on May 21, while the Edgar boys took second place.
Rachel Brewster captured championships in both the 100-meter hurdles in 16.68 seconds and 300-meter hurdles in 49.72. Jasmine Schnelle won the pole vault with seven feet, six inches.
The Edgar girls 4x100-meter relay team of Rachel Schneider, Makenna Guden, Malia Hoesly and Brooke Imhoff won the event in 54.50 seconds. The 4x200meter relay of Schneider, Guden, Hoesly and Ella Morse won in one minute, 56.55 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay of Brewster, Guden, Skrzypcak and Morse won in four minutes, 25.08 seconds.
For the boys, junior Ayden Weisenberger won the high jump with five feet, six inches.
