Colby seniors to graduate on Friday Colby seniors to graduate on Friday

A total of 77 graduates will receive their diplomas from Colby High School this Friday, May 28, at a commencement ceremony starting at 7 p.m.

The event will take place outdoors on the football/track field.

Superintendent Steve Kolden said the district will make a decision by 11 a.m. on Friday whether they want to postpone the ceremony until Sunday, May 30, at 1 p.m. — the first of two rain dates.

The weather forecast for Friday calls for a high of only 56 degrees, but Kolden said as long as there is no rain, the ceremony will proceed as scheduled.

If the ceremony is moved to Sunday, the district will decide by 9 a.m. if it needs to be pushed back again to Monday, May 31, at 5 p.m. In the unlikely event that rain continues to fall, the May 31 ceremony will be moved inside to the Colby High School theatre. That decision will be made by 1 p.m. on Monday. The district will send out messages to parents and post updates on its website, www. colby.k12.wi.us, if any scheduling changes are made. This year’s valedictorian is Brooklyn Filtzkowski, daughter of Michael and Linda, Colby. Brooklyn is planning on going to St. Norbert’s University with a major in English.

The salutatorian is Alexa Underwood, daughter of Shannon and Lisa, Abbotsford. Lexi is planning on going to UWLaCrosse with a major in biology.
