Course teaches practical parenting tips with laughter
Parents of children of all ages, are invited to attend Parent the Love and Logic Way, a class series aimed at giving practical parenting skills parents can try the first day.
The free class series is offered through the Cornell/ Lake Holcombe 21st Century Community Learning Center (CLC), and meets via Zoom on Thursdays, Feb. 11 through March 18, from 6-7:30 p.m.
Jenny Blaisdell, family education director at the CLC, says the skills taught in the class are suitable for all ages of youth, birth through college, and beyond. Blaisdell says laughing and learning together is a key part of the program.
“It’s almost like sitting down and watching a comedy, but it’s so relatable, because, as parents, we all experience some of the same challenges,” said Blaisdell. “But, they’re funny.” Attendees will then have the chance to talk to other parents about the experiences. Blaisdell says one of the neat things about the program, is even after the first night, there are some tips that can be applied right away.
“Then, you just build on those,” said Blaisdell.
The program has been offered in Cornell, for many years now.
“We’ve always done it face-to-face in the past and this will be virtual,” said Blaisdell.
Blaisdell says there is a $30 incentive per family perfect attendance of the six-week course.
“And then, potentially, some other incentives as well,” said Blaisdell.
Those who would like to attend the course, should register by calling 715-861-6960, by Wednesday, Feb. 10.
