Letter to the Editor:

In reading the Courier Sentinel editorial this week (Jan. 28), I was TRULY impressed and inspired! Indeed, in my opinion also, the Internet needs to be held accountable.

As you mentioned in Reno vs ACLU, the Supreme Court struck the anti-indecency provision. May we ponder if the soul of America itself was bettered or harmed by that decision, allowing unrestrained obscene speech, claiming any restriction violated the 1st Amendment.

The article mentioned Hobbes’ description of humanity, but that description originally began at the beginning of time with Eve, Cain and after many more transgressions of humanity – it explains why the earth was flooded and humanity was nearly obliterated.

We have learned over many years, how we always need to build our homes on a firm foundation. Nations are built that way, too. The Pilgrims embraced that solid understanding, leaving Holland, in 1620, and to foremost protect “the family” when they came here. The Founding Fathers endorsed it later, with the Declaration and then the Constitution.

First: America today, needs again to embrace the importance of family and fathers. We used to have bad four-letter words in the 1960s, and now we seem to rather ban five, six and seven-letter words too. Truth – honor – virtue – morals – ethics – decent – candour – justice.

How did we get here? How do we now call good/evil and evil/good? There has obviously been a sinister depravity that has been allowed to emerge and attempt to destroy this nation.

We must wake up from our slumber, or, like the previous generation, we will again one day be as surprised as at Pearl Harbor!

Imperative: fathers of our community need to be respected pillars of our homes and civic meetings! Men: we ALL NEED to embrace truth, honor, integrity, morality and virtue, with courage and dignity. I understand words were repeated, but – wives: encourage your husbands to embrace truth, honor, integrity and moral uprightness! And when they do – please respect them for that.

Youth: respect your parents.

This is one-half ingredient for ensuring a most solid foundation for humanity across this land.
