Rick Nelson

1967-2020

Rick Nelson, 53, of Medford, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020 at the Wausau Aspirus Hospital. He was born on May 1, 1967 to the late Richard and Florence (Stibbe) Nelson. He grew up in the Medford area, and graduated from Medford Area High School in 1985. After high school he worked at Weathershield for over 20 years. He married Mary Gorichs on July 15, 1988.

In accordance with his wishes, Rick is being cremated, and a celebration of life is to be held at a later date.

Rick enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and maintaining the family’s hobby farm. He enjoyed taking his family on many adventures, including numerous horseback camping trips to Wildcat Mountain. Rick was also not one to shy away from a challenge, and was often known to repair broken down equipment or help his children on their various household projects.

His generous personality and sense of humor will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; his children, Ash (Elyse) of La Crosse, Nik (Emily) of Osceola, and Jenna (Dillon) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his two beautiful granddaughters, Kora and Mia Nelson; and several four-legged companions. He is also survived by his brother; sister; two nieces; a nephew; and numerous in-laws; and friends.
