Richard Flink
Richard W. Flink, age 68, of Hortonville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, at Theda Care Medical Center in Appleton.
Richard was born on Jan. 17, 1952, in Marshfield, son of the late Conrad and Irene (Schultz) Flink. He grew up in the Unity area and graduated from Colby High School in 1970. On August 24, 1983, he was united in marriage to Elaine Heimmermann in Copenhagen, Denmark. Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 21 years with deployments in Vietnam and Desert Storm. He achieved the rank of First Sergeant. Flink was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star and also a member of the Yellow Ribbon Honor Flight. He was a member of the AMVETS and the American Legion. After his military career, Flink worked at the Neenah Post Office for 20 years.
Richard’s three boys were the pride of his life. He lived his life to the fullest and had no regrets. He will be remembered for his quick smile and laugh along with his kindness.
Richard is survived by his wife, Elaine of Hortonville; his three sons, Keith Flink of Oshkosh, Kenny (Rhonda) Flink of Weyauwega and Seth (Julie) Flink of Appleton and his six grandchildren: Alyiah, Emma, Sophia, Devon, Katie and Emma. He is further survived by his siblings: Robert (Lottie) Flink of Abbotsford, Jerry (LouAnne) Flink of Colby, Ronald (Virginia) Flink of Marshfield, Jack Flink of Dorchester, Karen (Dave) Hoernke of Medford, Kristine Woik of Colby and Kevin (Kristine O’Leary) Flink of Abbotsford. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Audrey Heimmermann of Appleton; many nieces and nephews; and his four fur babies.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jim Flink; brother-in-law, Denis Woik; and father-inlaw, Ray Heimmermann.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at a later date.
