Curling for Your Cause Charity Bonspiel to be held March 26, 27

After being postponed from last fall due to COVID-19 concerns, the annual Curling for Your Cause Charity Bonspiel will be held on Friday and Saturday at the Medford Curling Club.

The public is invited to come down and show their support for the event which has teams seeking to raise funds for groups as diverse as Taylor County Moving For A Cure, Little Lambs Academy at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Marathon County Humane Society, Girl Scouts and others.

The event starts with each team playing in their first draw in the evening of Friday, March 26. Spectators will also have the option to take to the ice as the club will host its final open curling night of the year. The club is open on Friday nights throughout the season from November through March for open curling for people to practice or to try out the sport.

Curling for Your Cause bonspiel action will continue throughout the day on Saturday with teams competing in four-end games ending in a championship game for possession of a traveling trophy and bragging rights until the next charity bonspiel. Event organizers hope to return the event to the fall next year as a kick-off to the curling season in Medford.

The tournament is a 100% payback with the registration fees being donated to the causes represented by the top two teams in each division. In addition, raffles and other events throughout the day will generate additional funds which will go to causes picked by the teams playing in the bonspiel.

In addition to helping raise money and awareness for area causes, this weekend’s event will bring to a close the 2020-2021 local curling season.
