Cadott Village Board
By Ginna Young
Because of new DNR permitting that began in October of last year, the Cadott Village Board approved opening a new account for their sewer phosphorous project, Feb. 3. Such a program is meant to offset the amount of phosphorous that goes in the river, upstream, to make the waterway cleaner.
“I know some places have paid to put in a cover crop along the river, to prevent runoff or possibly riprapping some riverbank,” said Chad Schuebel, village lead water/ wastewater operator.
By doing so, it will require less improvements on the wastewater plant, as an alternative. The village will now set aside money for the five-year program, which must be done and operational by October of 2029.
Schuebel is not positive about what Cadott will do yet, but this is the first step.
“We’re just trying to be proactive and get something started on that,” he said.
The board also approved Cedar Corp. to act in the village’s interests for architectural/engineering services for the new village library, funded through the Flexible Facilities Grant Program, as well as for grant administration.
However, electrical engineering for the Winger property project was once again tabled.
“We did not have enough information,” said Janice Christie, deputy clerk/treasurer.
