Families can get a one stop shop for needed resources

By Ginna Young

To provide families with information needed to make the school year go smoothly, an open house/resource fair takes place at Lake Holcombe School. The all-community back-to-school event happens Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 4-7 p.m.

The resource fair is put together by the after-school program, with presenters from across the Chippewa Valley. Services range from banking, childcare, financial planning, job opportunities and healthcare information.

“This event provides families with a ‘one stop’ way to see what services and assistance are available to them,” said after-school coordinator Kristine Hemenway. “The information can be taken home, read over and used as needed.”

After-school staff will also be there to answer questions, share new things that will happen this year, receive input from families and assist in getting students signed up for the program, which is open to grades 4K through eighth grade.

A free cookout will also be held, for the entire community, with a dunk tank stationed to drench administrators and teachers.
