After a request was made for permission to install lights on the high school baseball field, the Cadott School Board agreed, Aug. 12, to engage Wendell, to ensure engineering is correct for the project, at a cost of $12,000. That money will likely come out of Fund 46 or the General Fund, with most of the project taken care of through monetary, labor and material donations.
Since there are three different owners of the field, the school district has a lease on the field for roughly 20 years, and the district has current letters of support for the lighting.
The baseball families would like to get the project rolling, as soon as possible, yet this fall, so games are ready to be played in the spring.
“It’d give us a great advantage in scheduling,” said district administrator Josh Spaeth.
Members also approved the hire of elementary night custodian Dave Raley and high school night custodian Shelly Wendt.
During the meeting, middle/high school principal Christi Machler mentioned that they need to move to rSchool online registration in 202526 for athletics, because it’s extremely hard to keep track of paperwork, with physicals, etc.
“It makes a lot more sense to have it online and connected right to our other rSchool platform,” said Machler.
Machler also says that the district wants to approach parents about game supervision at sporting events and making sure the younger children are not outside of parental eyesight.
Board member Andrea Wahl asked about how the district is moving around CVTC scheduling.
“Are you guys able to handle any schedule changes with the CVTC platforms?” she asked.
Machler says the student’s schedule has to be built around CVTC’s and while it’s hard to marry class periods with that, the district does everything they can to work around it.
“It just kind of depends,” said Machler.
