See what Cornell has to offer with resource fair

Whether you’re new to Cornell, or have lived here your whole life, it’s important to know what services are available in the community. That’s where the annual school district resource fair comes in, to connect families with those partners.
The event takes place Thursday, Aug. 15, from 3:30-7 p.m., in the elementary school cafeteria, as a joint collaboration between the Summer School and After-School programs. Other members of the public are welcome to attend, as well, not just families with children in the district.
A wide range of resource providers will be on-hand, offering information on services such as transportation assistance for the elderly and disabled; volunteer opportunities, health and wellness resources; childcare assistance and start-up help for childcare providers; employment opportunities; parenting classes; housing assistance; food assistance; and services for domestic violence victims.
New this year, the event includes an open house at the high school, where attendees can see student projects in the school store, meet college representatives, sign up to volunteer, and tour the metal and wood shops, as well as the entire high school.
“The expansion of this event aims to provide more services for middle and high school students, and allow the public to explore the building’s potential future,” said after-school program coordinator Caslin Kasten. “This is a fantastic opportunity to see first-hand, the impact of our educational programs and discover how you can get involved.”
There will also be a raffle of a “Family Fun Pack” at the elementary school, along with free, high quality backpacks, filled with some school supplies to help ease the burden on back-to-school shopping.
“This event is designed to connect our community with valuable services and opportunities,” said Kasten. “Whether you’re looking for transportation assistance, health and wellness resources, childcare support, employment opportunities or any other service, you’ll find a wealth of information and support at this event.”
